I have a car that most people don't even know exists... It's a 1989 Subaru XT6 Fulltime 4-wheel drive... It's got a 2.7 Liter Flat 6 (horizontally opposed...aka Boxer) that stock makes 145HP and 156ft-lbs of torque. It was the world's first production car to ever have a liquid-cooled flat six. It's got 4-wheel disc brakes that bring it to a halt as quick as a Porche from its era and for several years this car was THE most aerodynamic production car IN THE WORLD with a drag coefficient still competetive with Vettes and Porches at 0.29.

She's got a Magnaflow freeflow 2 1/4 inch exhaust from the first cat and a custom (in every sense of the word) intake. The top speed listed to the left of 140 is NOT strung out. Without a little more power I can't reach the end of the tach in 4th. (Automatic tranny with a vaccum switched resistor to make it shift at full line pressure after about 1/2 throttle) At 6.5 grand (redline) it would mathematically do around 186 (hopefully soon, but probably never). This will require more power, but not bad for a Subaru from 1989.

Got it lowered! Tell me what you think! :)

My rear differential!!! :)

My dream is to get another car and build on this one. I want a T3/T4 hybrid pushing about 12 lbs of boost on 7.5:1 pistons. This would be bolted to a 5-spd with 3.80 front and rear differentials. Titanium valvetrain would help the revs along without valve float, and some very radical cams would help move the powerband up to take advantage of the revs. Maybe one day...

I recently put different heads on her because the radiator blew out and cracked the heads numerous times, so while it was out I did a street application port and polish. Couldn't afford to do much more because the parts I had to get totalled to around $1500. All labor was done in the back yard. :)

I graduated in May '05 with an associate's degree in Automotive Systems Technology and I currently work as a Technician at Subaru.

I've got a decent stereo (JVC) with 800 Watts going to 2 10 inch Kicker CompVR's... Feel free to ask questions. Even if you can keep up with me on a straight, you'd better watch out in the curves. Come through NC and get a piece of me. If you beat my ass, it'll only push me to the mods quicker... ;) Feel free to e-mail me at macfreke@yahoo.com.

Here are some very much so custom white faced gauges that I had to make myself. I'm looking for someone to print them for me. If anyone would like to volunteer, let me know!

Hi, I just pick up a 1988 XT6, taking off the air ride, and I think I'm missing something on the pass side. Do you have pics of under the hood on the pass side firewall? I have 3 bigger size wires that go to nothing. Thanks from 1988XT6

Hi there! Quick note for ya to look into... I've always been in love with this car, and so I watched the reviews of it all the time. One little detail that I just can't find anywhere today is that with the XT models somewhere between 87 and 89, they had tweaked the body shape slightly, giving it a drag coefficient of 0.24! Yes, that's right, it's more aerodynamic than the ultra-modern and totally revolting Toyota Prius, and almost all other "aerodynamic" cars of today! Maybe you can find the specs on this and verify it yourself? (The original XT that came out in 85 had a 0.29 coefficient; yours is more refined!)

Greg, to cool to see your ride. In 1988 my wife saw and fell in love with and purchased a brand new XT6 4wd pearl white. It was her first new car. I liked it kinda, but it deffinatly grew on me. That little sucker would scream. she stored it in the winters and in 1992 upon the arival of our first child we were forced to trade it in on the dreaded mini van. it only had 6,500 miles on it and still smelled new. we were just talking about it last evening and both concluded that it had been years since we have even seen one on the road. considering that they may now be extinct i decided to google just for fun, thats how i found you. best wishes for you & your wedge. Hold on to her you may just have somthing if nothing more than a conversation piece.

Nice car, have you been able to find any type of body kit or ground effects for the really pointy front end? My dad has a car like yours but I don't really like the front end, although when lowered they don't look to bad. Check out my other cars. Thanks
