1990 Chrysler LeBaron GTC VNT:

This is a 1990 Chrysler LeBaron GTC with the variable nozzle turbo. I am not sure how many owners there have been for this car. I am currently in dealings with the current owner to buy the car for $200.00. He just needs to find the title; if he can't find it then we will have the title re-issued in my name. I have a friend taking care of this as the car is in the next state. This car is 1 of 25 made with the VNT turbo. I will lay this site out much like I did with my 1989 GTC. There will also be some more pics to come. As you can tell, this is a prject car, my daily driver is a 1994 Eagle Vision TSi, you will see page on it soon.

The Front:

There is a lot planned for the front, as you can see it is need of a new paint job. I plan to have the car painted red, much like my old GTC, a little deeper though. Now you see why I am calling it the Phoenix. The windshield will need to be replaced, I will need a new grill, and that license plate holder will have to go. We'll have to see what else needs work up here when I get it. I also plan to have an HID system installed and replace the parking lights, must have bright lights.

The Back:

There is a bit of work need back here. As you can see it is need of a new rear bumper. The "lovely" tint job and sticker in the rear window means this car will be getting a new rear window. Those exhaust tips are going to have to go as well. All that is planned back here after that would be some possible taillight work, it depends on if I can come up with something tasteful. I will replace the backing lights as well. There will be a new exhaust system installed, most likely from Borla. I plan to have the muffler out of sight with two pipes, one coming out on each side. I may just do dual pipes on the one side. I will have to think about that. The license frame will have to go as well, if there would be one it would say I'm not speeding, I'm just flying low. I also plan to get a custom license plate that says; GTCUL8R, hope you get that.

Hi. I'm fairly new to Turbo Dodges but not to blown cars (I know GM). Congrats on your find, hope you're coming along well with your project. I've a Lebaron project myself and I was curious about a few things: You say "Since you have a 2.2L you would have a Turbo II, which I would take over a VNT." Why is that? I thought the TIV VNT was the ultimate? Also, your VNT being a 1990, is that a 2.5 or 2.2? I saw you're replacing your VNT with a Garrett T3? Again why? The A568 trans - can you give me more info on it and why it's better than the previous 5-speeds? Also, as boogtc25 mentioned, I saw in AllPar that there were 123 Coupes/132 convertible 1990 VNT Lebarron GTCs built, is your 25 just the 5-speeds and the rest were automatics? Hope you can answer my questions, I've a ton more in my CarDomain page for my LeBaron if you don't mind looking at them. We can PM if you'd rather. Thanks.

Lee: That is great to hear! I am glad you were able to do what I couldn't! Hackery: I would be interested if it wasn't a convertible. Anyhow, it can't be a VNT, those were only offered in the GTC for the 1990 model year. In 1989 you have the choice between the Turbo II and the Turbo I. Since you have a 2.2L you would have a Turbo II, which I would take over a VNT.
