reTRDwithAFord's 1996 Mercury Sable

I got this car from Grandma, low miles and mint condish. Yes its a Sable I've done small mods so far. 27% tint (Complements of P&L Automotive, theyre Awesome!!) replaced the stock yellow headlight bulbs with a set of Ultra Whites from Sylvania. Swapped out the factory rubber for some fresh G009's. Replaced the stock 19mm rear sway bar

with a 22mm off a 93' SHO (of course replacing the stock frame bushings and opting for some MOOG end links with polyurethane bushings, not sure how much I like them yet but the set-up is very nice:) as with almost any 90's ford sedan the rear springs suck balls and sag so I'm looking into replacing either just the rears with OEM height and be done with it, or going for a full set from EIBACH with adjustable shocks struts, havent decided yet (keep telling myself it's just a Sable). I had the bright idea last week to remove my entire interior. I weighed it before and after I got rid of 280lbs. While I was sitting at my computer I had another Idea why not replace the old cloth interior with leather. So looked and found a set off a lower mileage 97' (sweet). Drove 159 miles total picked it up and brought it home. (Driving with only a driver seat gained me 4MPG!!)
Then I looked at my interior and said to myself, hey I need some Butyl sound deadening material so called up Elemental Designs and ordered 200sqft (They even through in a roller, Great experience with this company!!!). Picked up a aftermarket stereo installation kit to give me a *!$#ing DIN (For the Alpine D300 thats going in it). And picked up a Viper remote start keyless entry so I can start my car from a mile away now (SST son!!).

Nice 200 SQFT of eDead (there was more in the box but I had already started installing it.)

covered with a layer of eDead

reTRDwithAFord's 1996 Mercury Sable as of 8/23 I finished the interior sound deadening and I definately hear a difference driving with only a drivers seat, I'll need some more for the trunk though.

Had this for a couple of days (I'm liking the D300) not amped yet though still wating on a 19ft fiber optic cable which should come next week.
reTRDwithAFord's 1996 Mercury Sable Heres my new parallel secondary (can't wate to put a big load on it and see what it can do!)

Here's a quick picture I took of the front set of component CDT's 6.5"s, right before I installed them
reTRDwithAFord's 1996 Mercury Sable
In this picture You can see the door fully eDeaded:) with the stock 6x8 hole.

reTRDwithAFord's 1996 Mercury Sable

And here's the door with the component set in it. I had to make a custom braket to make it fit.
reTRDwithAFord's 1996 Mercury Sable
Well, they're in and you wouldn't know unless you heard them or I told you.

reTRDwithAFord's 1996 Mercury Sable

The deal with this picture is I have very little patience and as soon as I got these 5.25's I had to listen to them (I had a old 6x9 box laying around from an old install just made a custom face and bada bing, sexyness in the form of sound!). The plan is that one of these is going into a custom fiberglass encloser that will take the place of my ashtray but right now I'm using them for rear speakers until the 6.5's come and I can finish the install. I'm going 6.5" with Titanium tweeters up front with a matching 5.25" making a total of six drivers up front and four drivers in the rear, 6.5's with silk Tweeters. And of coarse a monster sub.

Finaly the Fiber optic cable came!! So I installed my 5 Channel Alpine in a temp. location. (I think I'm still going to mount it angled but with a red neon on it and the Sub amp angled behind it, all carpeted though you get the idea, should look sick;)
reTRDwithAFord's 1996 Mercury Sable
So now that I have all my wires run I get to put the interior back in Yeah!!! (its been over a month and I was happy to finally be able to install the leather seats I bought back in early August.
reTRDwithAFord's 1996 Mercury Sable
Here's a pic of the new interior minus the center channel(you can see the old cloth seats at the top of the picture)

reTRDwithAFord's 1996 Mercury Sable

This used to be a ashtray.
reTRDwithAFord's 1996 Mercury Sable
Here you can see one of the speakers that I'm using for rears. The other 6.5"'s should come later this week and I'll be done installing the speakers (until the sub arrives, it'll give me time to play around with the new features that my amp has to offer and get it sounding perfect even though it sounds great without being tuned) Big improvement over stock sound system.
reTRDwithAFord's 1996 Mercury Sable
Rear speakers installed and look a lot better than the boxes on the rear seat.

reTRDwithAFord's 1996 Mercury Sable

The Rattle Finder 900
reTRDwithAFord's 1996 Mercury Sable
Just a temp. sub I had laying around to find all the buzzes and rattles that makes my car sound like garbage and get it ready for the final install. Right now its running off of the new ED amp at 2ohms its 900Watts RMS

reTRDwithAFord's 1996 Mercury Sable

Well, can you tell I can't wait to get some loud deep bass? Here are the plans (Minus the cut specs) to a vented box that I'm going to tryout with this sub (yeah I made that in Paint). I got the specs from E.D.

reTRDwithAFord's 1996 Mercury SablereTRDwithAFord's 1996 Mercury Sable
I painted the port flat black so it won't look like trash when the carpet is on it.
reTRDwithAFord's 1996 Mercury Sable
I found some carpet that will work great on the left is a piece of interior and the right is the carpet.

Well I got the vented box all carpeted and it looks good(would look better with a speaker in it!!!) I've decided when it gets warmer to take out my interior again and replace the 4Ga. with some 0/1 and I might go switch from passive to active with the front speakers and remove the center channel. To tell you the truth I'm not impressed with the sound and I never utilize the 5.1. maybe a h701 is in the near future? don't know, all I know is it's too cold and I'm lazy!

reTRDwithAFord's 1996 Mercury Sable

sub came, this is so temporary it's not even funny.

Hey how did you do the flip out? My friend's got the same car and were trying to figure out how to install an aftermarket HU. Do you just cut it out of that and then splice the stock wires? Or is there a wiring harness to buy?
