take my poll if you get the chance, in the upper right!
i bought this car when i was 16 for 4500 dollars. It is a 1991 5.7liter V8 355 z28 camaro with a shift kit, i am told it is one of 175 made in that year. My dad always said he would by me a 91 when i was 16, so i decided i would fulfill the prophecy. I knew it had to be a chevy cuz grandpa always insisted on chevy's and thats why my brothers and i all sport chevrolet.
When i got it the first time i tried to start it, it didnt work. It needed a new starter celinoid.
so i put a new starter kit on it and i thought i was in business, but long story short i have put 6 grand into this car (my three jobs make this happen). and it will never be done. this will be an ongoing project with updates. The fun is doing it, not the result. the first major addition will be the rims. So some pics with those will be on later. there are some pics on here now after it was painted.. before that it wasnt to nice lookin.
many people said that these old camaros will always run hot (rumored bad design by GM) i knew this couldnt be true so Michael and i decided to investigate.
Young Michael was the person who pointed me in the right direction with my over heating problem. he said that i probably had to high of thermastat in the car which i couldnt fathom being the problem because i just had it replaced. but i decided to check it out and it had a 195 which is way to high. So this time i put a 160 in myself and it runs cooler than ever. haha and it also helps that we resodered the fan wiring so that doesnt come on randomly.
time for upgrades..
I went down to 55th and troost which isnt the best part of town to buy a pair of camaro seats out of an 88 iroc. i like the leather.. only 120 dollars no rips!!!
i then sold my old seats for 80 .. wow.. they were so shitty.

my most recent project took quite a bit of time because i was replacing the lower radiator hose to the engine, and the hose was actually melted to the radiatior. so i spent much time and effort getting it off then when i went to put the new one on i couldn't remember how it weaved through the rest of the car to fit perfectly, but i eventually figured it out, and i was quite happy with the end result.
here is a picture of the new hose after it was installed. and a picture of me holding the old one, which u cant tell, but it was pretty melted.
the rims arent on yet, but i plan on putting them on this weekend and more pics will be available.
well the rims finally came and i am putting them on tomorrow. I decided to have them made custom from the custom wheels market in southern california. i think they did an excellent job. here they are as i unwrapped them. i think the 40 walled tires turned out nicely.. i didnt want the rims to take over the car and i think this will be perfect.
I also just got a sweet radar detector so i will have pictures of that and some pictures of the newly installed rims!
I just got the rims put on a couple of days ago, sorry it took so long to get these pics up, i have been working alot.. here they are.
it didnt take me long at all to put the rims on. I went to Michaels house and it only took like 45 minutes for me to put them on, and it was like 105 degrees outside. I really enjoyed the whole processed because i was using compressed air tools like in nascar. I think they turned out great, and i seem to be getting more looks on the road.
When i got home i realized that in a neighborhood such as mine(not shown in pictures), could be a potential place for my rims to get stolen, so the next day i bought some locks. this was a very hard process to get them on, because the design was so terrible. i ended up stipping one of them. I took um back and got a better set later on that day and they went on alot easier.
here is a some pictures with my windows freshly tinted! i went ahead and went with the 20 percent on the brow, 20 percent in the back and 35 on the sides to make sure i was street legal. i new my car was already pretty loud and i didnt wanna afford the possible fine. may upgrade later.
Next i decided it was time for a pimpin ass headliner curtosy of Dr. Martin for christmas... why not pimp it and make it scarlet red!
i also like my new JL audio sub with a pretty sweet amp. shortly i will have my new head unit which will improve my sound quality on the front speakers. The new head unit will also be a better media processor for the sub. The sub is a ten and the amp is a powerful 400 watts to one channel.. and if u know anything about audio there is a reason people spend more money for a JL 400 watt amp than a pyle 2000 watt amp haha. The sub is the 10w1 model with a JL professional built enclosure, and the amp is the A2150 model. The professionals at Independence audio put my stuff in and said that my sound quality is amazing for the mere 700 dollars i spent. I will soon add a 500 alpine head unit and by an amp for the speakers in the front. well here are some pics i dont have any of the amp in the car yet so i got one off the internet. check it out.
i thought the shoes and hat were a nice touch.. alex's idea
here is another pic after the fresh waxing
here is a picture of what i have been working for.. this is the camaro of my dreams.. its what im striving for.
