By the end of the next summer, the little rust spots in the rear quarter panels were starting to grow. That was completely unacceptable, so I took my Skreemer down to John, the owner of Beiers Auto to see what could be done. He was skeptical, but because I was a friend of his, he accepted the job.
Ken Rohrbuck (now owner of A-1 Autobody) took my baby and worked to make it look exactly like I dreamed it could. I love the design of the CRX, but there was a little tweaking that could be done to slick it up a bit and Ken was happy to oblige. I initially wanted a dark blue, but then I realized if I got a color close to the existing shade, I wouldn't have to pay for or worry about mismatched door jams, engine bay, etc. So he applied the luscious Firepepper Red Pearl from the Accord instead. Per my request, he left the belt moldings, side mirrors, grille louvers and the back of the foglight "pockets" in the front bumper unpainted black, adding a much cleaner and sportier character to the car. He even painted my calipers and drums to match :-) After confirming that I was pleased with it, he promptly added seven coats of clear, and buffed it until it gleamed like a ruby. Perfectly glamorous without being overtly showy. Who needs a body kit with a car like this?
