This is my first rabbit bought in 2004. It has 72,000 original miles. She was found locked up in a barn for ten years after the rear tranny mount fell. With a little work and money the tranny was in place, and she started in one crank. I have removed the bumpers, air filter and box, emmissions garbage, added GTI seats, and Wolfsburg door pulls. I will be keeping the original engine, but the head will be ported and polished, the intake extrude honed, a full rebuild, msd ignition, GTI cam, and a T3 turbo install. Hopefully by winter I will have it running at 300BHP. 248 would be nice.I do apologize before hand for the length of the pages and all of the pictures and notations. (I have a bad memory and need to remember how to put it all together.)You would figure after rebuilding 10 cars I would be able to do this with my eyes shut. So please enjoy and if you have any question technical or not I can answer them.
The rabbit getting rained on a little. it has been a good car. It has been to Vegas and back 6 times.
I am going for the Euro look, but keeping it simple. Soon it will be cinnamon brown with very little chrome. And maybe a healthy drop.
These little 34 PICT Solex carbs are a pain!
I rebuilt the carb on 7-25-07. Hopefully it works better.
The intake will be getting polished, ported, and cleaned up soon. woohoo!

What a dirty engine bay. AS soon as I pull the engine and tranny, sand blasting will begin. Not bad though, I have seen dirtier.
These wheels would look very nice with a 3" drop.

The new parts on order along with Wolfsburg window cranks, chrome mirrors, and a new dash.
I finally found some time in my busy schedule to remove the intake manifold. The aluminum is tarnished and dirty, but it should clean up pretty well.
Here is the stock exhaust manifold. It's actually in good shape. I am going to sand blast it ceramiccoat it and sell it. If anyone out there needs a full exhaust for a rabbit with a crossflow head, let me know.

With the intake and exhaust out of the way, I can see that I have a long road ahead of me. The steering rack is in bad shape, and boy is the engine bay dirty.
This was the easiest removal for exhaust and intake ever. It took a staggering hour to remove. hopefully soon the engine will be out.
As the project continues I will add more pictures and such. I should be welding up some holes, doing body work, and painting soon. Thankfully I can do all that myself. Save money.
