This is our project:
A 1988 Mazda RX-7 FC3S. A $600 Mazda RX-7 FC3S. We purchased the car in May of 2007 and it was grossly neglected, not running and tragicly left outside. After towing to our garage and getting our hands dirty we've got the rebuilt 13B running and home in NC where the FC3S Project has turned into the FC3S Drift Project.
Here is a list of mods that we've done so far:
-Replaced the US style "Shadow" tail lights for the JDM style round tail lights (JDM lights, not the US S5 lights- similar, but not identical).
-Replaced body panels (driver, passenger fenders and rear bumper which had slight damage).
-Replaced sway bar bushings with Polyurethane replacements (Energy Suspension).
-Optima Battery
-K&N Air Filter/Intake.
-Replaced some minor interior trim.
-Custom stainless exhaust.
-Pioneer head unit and speakers
-Rockford Fosgate Amp
-MB Quart subwoofers
-Racing Beat Springs
-KYB Adjustable Shocks
-Tein Adjustable Camber Plates (Strut Mounts)
-10.8mm spark pulg wires.
-Lightwieght Double Alternator Pulley
-Removed AC Compressor.
-5 Lug Converson (Our 4 Lug stock wheels and tries are for sale and in great condition!)
-Custom 2in. Header
-Walbro 255 Fuel Pump
-Mazdaspeed Aluminum 4 Pod Brake Calipers
-Slotted/Vented Rotors
-Carbotech Brake Pads
-Stainless Steel Brake Lines
-FD3S 16X8 J 50MM Wheels (Just for show- not for drift)
-Turbo II Helical LSD and Custom Driftshaft
-Racing Beat Toe Eliminator Bushings
We're all about making the car to handle, THEN make it look fly.
Future Plans (as our budget allows and pretty much in this order):
-Electric fan conversion.
-Racing Seats/Harnesses.
-Front strut bar.
-Switch out to the RX-7 Turbo Transmission (and all the goodies that go with it).
-Eventually turbo charge and intercool.
Let's face it- someday the 13B will need rebuilding again. Our thoughts were to run this motor until it's no longer capable (with or without a turbo) then convert to the 13B twin turbo from a FD3S. We've also toyed with the idea of doing an LS1 conversion, but I really feel that a Rotary engine should stay in a Rotary car. 20B maybe? You never know. More pics are of the project are on the next couple of pages. Keep checking in on us, we're constantly working on our FC.
WE'VE HAD AN ADDITION TO OUR RX-7 COLLECTION:
A 1993 FD3S TWIN TURBO (with complete rebuild 30K ago). HAVEN'T DECIDED WEATHER TO SELL OR KEEP, BUT HERE ARE A COUPLE OF PICS:
