Now It'd be nice to own this vehicle if it had no problems but unfortunately, it's American and we all know what that means. Early-mid 1990's GM quality...uh-huh.
A toolbox was standard equipment for this car. I found that out after the first two months I owned it. The biggest problems were leaky head gaskets, tensioner bearings, and water pump bearings, leaky heater cores, prematurely wearing rotors, cancerous rust, lightbulbs loosening themselves out of sockets. Basically almost everything.
REPAIR HISTORY:
This car did have almost 300 grand so I guess things dropping off are to be expected though. Three head gaskets went, replaced an alternator, ABS speed sensor replaced, water pump, three tensioners, AC clutch was shot, never changed. the rust kept coming back. After 275K we just stopped fixing everything because it was futile. The engine was starting to have a light skip but goddamn that transmission was built like a tank! Nothing went wrong with it EVER!:)
We found the rust problem the hard way. After driving home and wondering why my trunk was soaking wet, a quick pull of the liner revealed a massive hole (yes that is the tire). two more were in front of the well and one in each rear corner of the trunk floorpan.

FAREWELL!
I no longer own my ciera, unfortunately the tensioner and other pulleys were misaligned causing fan belts to be eaten for breakfast, lunch and dinner. It was becoming a moneypit and left me stranded; twice. I didn't want to junk it but it had to be done.
One Hell Of a Car! R.I.P.
