Shes Not much to look at right now, and I've got a lot of work to do, but I've put about 8k miles on her and she took me accross the US, so its time she gets some new parts, she worked hard for it. I plan on Upgrading the rear first and working on the smaller stuff till I can tear down the engine. Also needs some new front end parts, so I'll be tearing into that too. Can't wait to get started on her..

Well, got a lot done since I got back. I have replaced the rear springs with new ones from JC whitney. They lifted the rear about 4 inches as compared to my worn out and flat old springs. I also have added a rear sway bar from Helwig, and what a difference that made. Highly recommended for any of you first gen owners. It ran me 180 shipped. Also have helwig antiwrap springs, and 1000lb leaf helpers. I have new Monroe sensa-trac shocks all around, and a new rear differential cover from TA. I also repainted the axle housing. Boy that was some fun work, but the ride is much better and I can hold a lot more in the rear, and it sure does look better too.

Took a trip to Nevada recently and got the front steering rebuilt in my friends front yard, we replaced inner/outter tie rod ends, idler/pitman arm, and all 4 ball joints with moogs, the rest was AC delco. Also I replaced the upper control arm bushings, need to do the lower but I have to wait till I get a new sway bar for the front. Explain that later. Oh, so since the rear was lifted it looked really funny with a stock trim, so I cranked it all the way up in the front and we brought it to my buddy's friends' shop, and they alligned it for free in exchange for an hour of work, which was sweet. So about $220 for a new steering joints and alignment was great, I'd say.

So for the last two weeks I've been scouring the junk yards for parts, here is what I found:
1996 Jeep Grand Cherokee KD steering box (12.7:1 ratio)
1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee Steering intermediate shaft. It has U-joints instead of the rubber 'rag' joint
1998 GMC Jimmy Front Lower control Arms, 33mm front sway bar, spindle assembly w/2-piston calipers, 23mm rear sway bar w/ brackets
These parts are great upgrades, for sure. My bravada had a 29mm front sway bar, and none in the rear. I had a 7/8 ( i think?) helwig sway bar in the rear, but it wouldn't hold and kept breaking, hope this unit works better. On top of that I have new Moog Control arm bushings upper/lower on both sides, new ball joints, Poly bushings for my front bar and a set of new rotors/pads. Everything is just about done except the rear sway bar and the steering parts. Hopefully the steering will go in this weekend, and I need to ask a friend to weld the brackets in for me for the bar. I'll write more when I get a chance to test all this out!

You'de be better off to get a new drive shaft made. The CV joints in the front shaft are weak.I sheared mine right off.I had a shaft made using 1-ton truck joints.Stop by
