greetings guys i've recently acquired a white 1987 xr4ti previous owner said it had 107xxx mi but the odometer says 41xxx this is 141xxx right?
car cost 500 and needed a clutch, battery, and tires. previous owner says he hasn't driven the car since 1994 when the clutch went out. i found a license tag in the hatch dated 96 needless to say i wasn't interested in trying to start a car that had gas sitting in it for the last 10 or so years. so i just had it towed to the shop i work at until i would be able to work on it. the car sat for 2 weeks at the shop, the whole time my co-worker (bobby) is trying to convince me to start the car. after 2 weeks i try. battery charger and vroom it starts on the first turn like it had just been turned off. worried i might cause some damage i turn it off immediately and run to tell the others. "so how does it drive" they reply. uhh duh the car needs a clutch. "try it anyway!!" so i go back start the car up put it in reverse and OH $#!t it backs out of the parking space with no problem at all. WTF!? no complaints here.
I called the previous owner and asked why he thought the clutch was gone. he said he'd had problems getting in reverse, right.
so i began driving the car. it had an overheating problem, changed the thermostat turned out to be the rubber in the radiator cap. changed oil, sparkplugs, wires, distributor cap and rotor. about to change my fuel filter when i get a chance. should change the pump too right. want to upgrade at that time though. radiator has a small leak. guibo is broken. rear pass. shock is shot, springs are so bad all around, the car looks like it's already been lowered. control arms, tie rods, and any other rubber bushings need to be replaced but i'm taking it slowly step by step. and enjoying this $500 dollar car that needs a clutch.
Here's what it looks like now...
Projected outcome... just need to know where i can get ahold of the items required to make it work.
and no these aren't cossie anything.
