Thanks for checking out my ride! Please answer my poll and sign my guestbook (especially if you have really good tips on how to fix up my van or where to buy parts).

April 08: My current plans are to make room for my new '64 Econoline! This van will get the body repairs done this season. I intend to sell this van, as the '64 will become my cool personal ride. The '85 Cavalier has gotta get done, too. Watch my garage for updates on my projects!

I got Dumbo for $600 CAD in 2001 with all kinds of problems, but you don't see too many shorty's with barn doors around. plus I had my heart set on a van project. I just wish these things (projects, that is) could get done!
Mechanically, it's very sound. The 305 has been professionally rebuilt. I rebuilt the carb, replaced the exhaust, tranny, and re-did the wiring. The front suspension and steering was also a mess, so I dealt with that.
Me and my rusty primered van parked at the Banff Springs Hotel a couple years ago... blended right in to the posh surroundings! LOL!
The van had previously been used to haul rolls of carpet around (back doors bungee'd open, carpet rolls dragging on the ground behind the van), so the diff and axle are an area I'd like to address. Also, being a cargo van, I have a clean shell to customize (thus the oddball door with window glass). It makes all the difference for visibility when I need to merge from the left onto a fast roadway.
I'm dreaming of:
- lowering and bagging the suspension
- customizing the interior using steel framing for a custom console, limo-style partition, sofabed, cargo area
- booming audio / video
- sunroofs
- ground effects kit
Once upon a time, I sketched a body concept that included a black-on-silver tropical palm tree / beach silhouette motif.
I thought these rims suited the design perfectly, looking like rolling waves! I haven't bought them yet, but I have them in sight!
After several years of never quite finishing the body work or interior, I'm contemplating what to do with it. If all works out, I'm hoping to do all the body repairs before winter, including shaved door and antenna hardware.
Check out my new Lincoln! The Handy MIG ought to help me bring some respectability to my rides! Soon, I won't have to hide behind the steering wheel when I drive!
