Got my Dakota early in 2006, completely stock at the time except for the ventvisors and tonneau cover. This is how it was when I got it, that's my dad's ram in the background
First mod I did after I got it was to install polk db650 speakers all around. They sounded pretty good running off the factory stereo, definitely better than the OEM junk.
Then I picked up a TrailMaster 2" leveling kit from AutoAnything and had that installed at the dealer after trying it myself and discovering the nut holding the strut together had been crossthreaded at the factory.
Next order of business was exhaust, you could barely hear this thing running stock! Fixed that problem with a Cherry Bomb Vortex muffler. Had my local muffler shop remove both resonators and the stock muffler and install the Vortex with a Hooker Headers dual tip exiting in front of the passenger rear tire. Sounds so much better now!
Stock muffler and one of the resonators in the bed after I got the new system on. I seriously thought my muffler guy was pulling a prank on me when he handed that to me and said it was my stock muffler. No wonder you couldn't hear the thing!
And yet another resonator (comes with 2 stock, they didn't want this thing making ANY noise!)
Thanks for checking out my ride, if you have a Dakota too or any dodge you should check out www.DodgeForum.com. Lot of useful info there.
