98 R/T
I have been building engines since 86' Mostly small block Chevy and some Big block Olds'.I have had My R/T for 3 years and Plan to build 2 more 1 is an ACR the other.... Well It will be Something Special. A True SLEEEEEEEPER. 2.4 Swap for sure. Mopar stage 3 kit,Quaife LSD,5-spd,Full Cage I can't wait to get started , but I need to get My divorce settled first. No MAJOR Purchasing.Well I hope you like what I have done and look forward to hearing from everyone.I'm trying to get some new pics up every day or so. Keep Wrench'n.98R/T.

Hood(DOHC)ready for cutting.after masking off the hood I drilled a small hole in each corner to ease in the cutting, also for marking the hood on both sides.

Piano wire works well for cutting the factory putty under the hood framework.

Ring98RT's 1998 Dodge Neon

Cutting the framework 2in in from where the scoop will drop.

Ring98RT's 1998 Dodge Neon

Framework cut out.Ready to cut hood.

Neon NEON
Ring98RT's 1998 Dodge NeonNow it's time to start Mudd'n.

Ring98RT's 1998 Dodge Neon

The Framework is made from 3/32 and 1/4 inch Balsa wood. This balsa wood is selected specifically for large scale Rockets.I laminated them cross grain for Maximum Strength. Then sanded and filed to the correct size. This is one MAJOR pain in the A$$."But what can ya do?"But it was worth it in the end.
Ring98RT's 1998 Dodge NeonThis is the point that I wish that I had sanded more of the hood, it had a ton of stone chips. That's why it was a $20.00 hood.
Ring98RT's 1998 Dodge NeonNow for the first of several coats of Red Oxy/Primer,not to mention a lot of Glazing putty.(I don't like rock chips).

Ring98RT's 1998 Dodge NeonThis is a factory spoiler off of a neon that had been wrecked.Don't worry I got everything good.

Ring98RT's 1998 Dodge Neon

After cleaning all the tar(seal) off the bottom.I removed the factory studs. Then replaced them with 5inch threaded rod.I used ind.strength epoxy to secure them.
Ring98RT's 1998 Dodge NeonI used the spoiler gasket(plastic piece)to make several cutouts of different sizes and thickness.

Ring98RT's 1998 Dodge Neon

Ring98RT's 1998 Dodge NeonI ended up using a staggered stack with the larger one on the bottom for a wider base. One more added benefit is that you can use more Body filler so it will be stronger than if you only had a light skin of filler.
Ring98RT's 1998 Dodge Neon I used several light coats of filler, over lapping and trimming with a RAZOR BLADE(disc;NOBODY UNDER THE AGE OF 18 TRY THIS WITH OUT CLOSE ADULT SUPERVISION)LOL=P.

Ring98RT's 1998 Dodge Neon
Ring98RT's 1998 Dodge NeonNow I have a stock spoiler with a 3inch lift.I like to make subtle changes, just enough so that other Neon owners or should I say Neon "DRIVERS" are the only ones that really notice.

Ring98RT's 1998 Dodge NeonThis is the first Gray primer coat this stuff sucked it was next to impossible to work with but when it's what you have mixed ya gotta go for it and hope for the best.lol.Time to clean my Spraygun....Again!!!

Ring98RT's 1998 Dodge Neon

Ring98RT's 1998 Dodge Neon

Ring98RT's 1998 Dodge NeonMy pile of parts is getting Higher& Higher.I tried to get some good pics up close, but primer is hard to photograph well w/my camera.Sorry.

Ring98RT's 1998 Dodge Neon

Ring98RT's 1998 Dodge Neon The fit isn't right on but my body and paint guy will take care of that.

Ring98RT's 1998 Dodge Neon

Hood on,.. but it still needs something.."EYELIDS"..

Ring98RT's 1998 Dodge Neon

Ring98RT's 1998 Dodge NeonIt was about 4:30 A.M. and I couldn't Sleep So I masked My Headlights and "Rattle Canned" some eyelids on ??!! Well with "ZERO" prep and only "Sh!tty paint". I turned out about like that. With all the sags and runs you could hardly notice all of the fisheyes. Fu(k it!!!!.

Ring98RT's 1998 Dodge Neon

Ring98RT's 1998 Dodge NeonWell It's about 11:00 a.m. the next morning. With some SLEEP and some Good prep.I scrubbed the Headlights in Naptha about $4.00 a gal.(aka lighter fluid about $5.00 an oz.)Then a couple coats of Good Primer, then painted them Gloss Black. There, Now that looks more like it.

Ring98RT's 1998 Dodge Neon

Ring98RT's 1998 Dodge NeonWell it's not even "Noon" yet and "Their done".They don't look too bad. I haven't seen any Eyelids for First Gen's anywhere. So just make them yourself!
Ring98RT's 1998 Dodge NeonJust some old pics of the Trunk .

Ring98RT's 1998 Dodge Neon

Ring98RT's 1998 Dodge NeonThis is one of many Nos systems that have been Tried.Sorry but ZEX.....SUX...At least for every single Build that I've done. They must only work on Hondas. Okay' Okay' now before any Friends of mine "Freak out".You know I'm right.Honda's are easy to "work on".Enough.., eeeuck , Honda talk.

Ring98RT's 1998 Dodge Neon

This is not the way it is set up for use.It just looked better this way.Sue Me.

I like what you done with the Dohc hood! When I painted eyelids onto my old stock lights I also masked off part of the front blinker and continued the lids onto them. Gave it even more of an aggressive look. Anyhow I have a similar project going on with the hood. Only I used a Sohc hood for the project.Keep up the GW man!
