Sure, there were other race cars that relied on shades of purple, from Fireball Roberts' '63 Galaxie and Lake Speed's '88 Olds to the Smokin' Joe's T-Bird and the Diamond Rio-sponsored Ford. But again, those were race cars with sponsor-determined colors.
With some cars, the purple is a complimenting color...
... while for others, it is THE color.
My buddy Bruce certainly made Plum Crazy a standout color on his outstanding '68 Cuda!
