Pony Cars on the Pony Express Trail

I work in Old Sacramento, CA for the California State Railroad Museum. Today I glanced out my window to see a red 2010 Chevy Camaro SS, white 2010 Dodge Challenger R/T, and a blue 2010 Ford Mustang GT all cruise by the museum.
This is not a common sight here, by any means.
I left during my lunch break to find the cars parked in front of Fanny Ann's Saloon. A beautiful sight of American Muscle, resplendant in Red, White and Blue.
All of the cars sported Michigan Manufacturer's plates and were dirty from an obvious long trip on the road. I grabbed my camera phone and quickly shot some pictures (and I apologize for the poor quality of the pics as a result).
I finally found the official photographer chatting with the guys driving the cars and found out that the shoot was part of an upcoming Road & Track article featuring Pony Cars on the Pony Express Trail. Apparently the caravan began in St. Joseph, MO and finished up here in Sacramento, CA after following the route of the Pony Express. The article and photos should appear in the October issue of Road & Track.
But you saw it here first!!
Of interesting note (to me, anyway); all 3 of the cars sported 5-spoke rims that, minus a few angular differences, looked curiously alike.
A white Challenger! Can a remake of the cult classic Vanishing Point be far behind?
Regardless of your particular choice of car, seeing the Red, White and Blue all together in one place has got to make you want to stand up and salute!
I just wish I had a better camera with me...
Oh, by the way... here is Fireball with the Pony Express statue in Old Sacramento.

Half the wheels, almost as much fun...
I'm sure that there's no doubt how much I enjoy my Fireball Roberts Galaxie, but I can't drive it all of the time. Here's my daily driver-commute ride.
This is my 2007 Honda Shadow VLX, also known as the VT600 (V-twin, 600CC). Yeah, it's not a massive slab of Harley or a screaming Hayabusa, but it's comfortable, reliable, and gets over 55 mpg.
Compared to a lot of bikes out there this one is pretty wimpy with only about 34 hp. But it's lightweight and comes off the line quite nicely and will cruise all day at 70 mph without a complaint.

And my grandson loves it. 'Nuff said.
