The Mobil-ized "Project Fireball"

The continuing saga of how I Mobil-ized myself to re-create an historic NASCAR legend. (And how and why I keep on being Mobil-ized!)

You'll find "fully Mobil-ized pages" on Pages 1, 2, 3 and 15, with a lot of additional Mobil-ization throughout the site. (Not to mention a LOT of "CAT-alyzation"! - See page 2 for more details!)

Today's question: How many times does 1 go into 22?

Answer: 5 quarts at a time...

So... what do you do when you're a life-long stock car racing nut, big-time fan of Old-school NASCAR, love old Fords (enough that I bleed Ford Blue, folks), happen across one of your all-time favorite model and year of cars on eBay one evening, and once again get an itch to try and bring an old dream to life?

Such are the humble beginnings of a 9-month-long journey; a project that is actually the culmination of a 30-year dream. Starting with the purchase of the car on October 1, 2006, the dream I call Project Fireball was restored and proudly debuted on July 9, 2007.

It's a bit of a long story, so grab a beer or two (provided you're of legal drinking age, of course), sit back and, hopefully, enjoy! And if you feel so inclined, drop me a line or a guestbook entry and let me know what you think.

But be careful while you're checking out the story... you might actually learn a little vintage NASCAR history along the way!

You might even run into a couple Hooters girls! They tend to come in pairs... Quick, grab me some Mobil 1 condoms! (Oh, sorry folks... that's an "inside" joke amongst us Mobil-izers...)

You're also gonna run into a lot of "Mobil-ization"... my contribution to some Shameless Marketing Opportunity on behalf of a promotion by the great folks who provide car owners and enthusiasts with Mobil 1 synthetic oil. You probably know such activity better in the racing world as SPONSORSHIP. And, in many respects, that's what saved racing during the financially troubled 70s. No, I'm not personally sponsored by Mobil 1... but I am open to negotiations!

Sponsorship makes today's level of racing possible. Sure, sponsorship wasn't as prevalent in the era my tribute car represents, but I'm confident that Mobil 1 would have been among the first sponsors of a driver like Fireball Roberts had the company offered the product back then. Imagine an ad from the 60's like the one I created here for the fun of it...

Or, how about we re-brand one racing legend with another? Hmmm... that's not half bad!!

Mobil Oil has been an integral part of automobile maintenance for nearly as long as cars have been around. (Mobil was founded in 1866 as the Vacuum Oil Company.) You have to figure that they have some experience with fast cars. (They probably also have some experience with not-so-fast cars, but no one on Cardomain.com has a slow car, right?) In fact, Mobil products have been a tradition with Indianapolis 500 winners since Ralph DePalma's win in 1915!

Mobil 1 is the Official Motor Oil of NASCAR. And many race teams use Mobil 1, regardless of direct sponsorship. So do I, regardless of ANY sponsorship! (Hint, hint, Mobil 1!!)

The Mobil 1 brand was introduced in 1974 and has been a significant partner in auto racing for going on 35 years. Its presence is far more than just a decal on a race car. There must be a real good reason...

NEWSFLASH!!!

Speaking of racing and sponsors...

One should put their (Sponsor's) money where their mouth is, right? Consider this: Hendrick Motorsports receives associate sponsorship money from Quaker State on the race cars of Jeff Gordon, Jimmy Johnson, Dale Earnhardt, Jr., and Casey Mears... yet the November 26, 2007 entry of Hendrick Chevrolet's Dealership Blog advertises (and this is a direct quote): "Here at Hendrick Chevrolet, we prefer to use Mobil 1 oil for your scheduled oil changes." Don't believe me? Click on the link and read for yourself!

Hmmm... kinda makes you wonder about their "brand loyalty" in sponsorship, doesn't it?

And maybe they just know better when it comes to your car! After all, Mobil 1 comes as standard equipment in some of the finest production vehicles you can buy. It's "factory fill" in the Chevrolet Corvette, all Porsches, Mercedes-Benz AMG models, Dodge Viper, Ford Mustang Cobra R and all Aston Martin cars. That's some pretty fast company!

DISCLAIMER: No animals were harmed in the purchase or construction of Project Fireball, the creation of this CarDomain website, or its subsequent Mobil-ization. But if the neighbor's cat craps on my lawn one more time, he's toast!!!

ATTENTION MOBIL 1 PEOPLE!! Please choose my Mobilized car site as one of the monthly winners or the kitten gets it!!! The clock for July is ticking and my trigger finger itches something fierce...

Or, how about we take kitty for a little spin?? There's nothing like "Kitty frappe'"!! (Insert maniacal laughter here.)

Lest you think I am a cat hater, this is my pal Bucky Katt, the best damn cat in the world. Here he's taking a little cat-nap and thinking of all the treats he might receive if and when I am chosen to be a monthly Mobil-ized winner. Please don't disappoint him!! Or me!!

Remember, you'll find "fully Mobil-ized pages" on Pages 1, 2, 3 and 15, with plenty of Mobil-ization throughout the site. Thanks for visiting and check back soon!

With all of the work I've been doing to Mobil-ize my pages and still no win as of yet, I'm getting the feeling that it might be the images of my sorry face on here that is scaring the judges away... hmmm...
