Greetings bored page looker. So I've decided that I have enough progress pics to put up a decent page for my 710, which was purchased March of 2007. This is a 1977 Datsun 710 2 door hardtop 4 spd w/L20B, aka violet or 160Y depending on what country you live in. Unfortunately, the U.S. did not get the SSS model with IRS but I think I'll live. As you look through these pics, just realize that i understand and fully recognize how badly this thing needs to be lowered, but thanks for noticing :)
these pictures on the first page are mainly how it sits now. I added fender mirrors, upgraded the headlights to H3 housing 5.5 inch foglights, put a crappy ram air horn in place of the missing drivers high beam, have test fit a bunch of wheels on it and bought some 14x7 0et 3pc gotti wheels specifically for it (although recently, one of them magically stopped holding air). The car came with the hoodpins.
When I got the 710 the trunk was primered because my friend that i bought the car from had shaved all the trim holes etc. I reprimered it and did a mediocre rattle can job on it. Also, after removing the bumpers and getting the exhaust repiped and re-hung, I painted the lower pan and fabbed a euro style rear bumper out of a trim piece of the stock rear bumper.
The car already had the muffler cannister but the exhaust shop I frequent replaced the pieced together piping with custom bent and it goes over the axle nicely. they also added a resonator in an effort to quiet things down. no such luck. it's well hung (that's what she said) and doesn't vibrate or rattle as it did before.
The 710 has good lines. I like the fender mirrors far better than door mirrors for this particular bodystyle.. I'm pretty partial to fender mirrors in general though so I guess it's up to you to decide if you like it or not.
After I got the mirrors I repainted them because they were pretty dingy. I pulled them off a 1974 honda civic. you know, the "cvcc" civic? yeah, who'da thought.
The H3 lights look pretty good, thinking about upgrading the bulbs to silverstar for better color.
The cutoff is pretty good. thinking about adding relays so I can run higher wattage bulbs. I wish that the light pattern was a little wider. Considering getting raybrig HID driving lamps, think that would take care of everything the h3's don't :)
the blue LED lights in the instrument cluster are a nice touch.. and a distinct improvement over the nonexistent ones in the car when I purchased it.
Since I don't have a real gameplan for this page yet, I just decided to put some info on the first page and then post a lot of pictures on the rest. I'm starting a wheel fitiment page, if anyone cares. that just means one of the pages in this cardomain will be dedicated to the fitiment of different size and offset wheels. maybe it will help someone, somewhere, someday. maybe.
