This is my 1991 Citroen BX 1.9TGD I will be posting some videos of my stereo and suspension in action in the near future...It took a lot of work on something that probably wasnt worth it but in the end it paid off I think. I couldnt have done it without the help from my friends.
Here is a picture of what it looked like when I first picked it up...
The interior was all plastic panels and some kinda nasty rubber matting. I started to install my stereo shorty after I got it...the side panels are already removed in these pics.
For the head unit I went with a JVC with a USB port so when the bass starts to shake the dash I dont have to worry about it skipping the CD.
Here is the dash with all the panels down...it all hides away neatly.
I modified the change holder so that I could mount bass adjust knob.
JVC
Both Panels open
It had some 4" speakers but they were going to be enough.
I installed a set of 6 1/2" Infinity Kappa Components up front, I had to build up the door to make the magnets clear the window and cut out the a lot of the plastic support for clearance as well.
The Crossovers for the components were mounted in the map compartment in the dash. The tweeters are mounted under the grills as seen to the right of the map compartment.
I installed sound deading material all over the back of the car, from the backs of the rear seat to the back latch. I also sealed off the storage compartment baffles to keep all the air pressure inside the car.
I covered the sound deading material with carpet and made wooden panels for the sides to keep air from being pushed in and out of pockets in the back. I made them all flat to try to direct all the air to the back smoothly.
Two Fans were installed to pull the warm air out of the amp compartment.
The amps I went with are a Hifonics Colossus 3200 watt to run my 2 12" Image DynamicsMAX. The surround speakers are ran off a Infinity 6 channel amp. The amps were raised up about 3/4" to let the warm air escape and let the fans pull it out.
GOT WIRES????
2ga. is ran from the battery to the distrobution block. 2ga. goes to the Hifonics, 4ga. runs to the Infinity amp and the 5 Farad cap, 8ga. wire is ran to the subs from the Hifonics and all the speaker wires are 12ga.
Here is the box for the Infinity Kappa 6X9's and Image Dynamics 8" for mid-bass.
The box and amp cover for the 12's
The back seats and boxes carpeted and speakers installed.
The rear of the car carpeted with the subs and cap installed. As you can see the 1" hole build to make a full flow for cooler air to be pulled into the amp compartment while the fans in theory pull the warm out.
Most older Citroens come stock with a hydraulic suspension set-up and my BX is one of them. As you can see from the first picture it came with steel 14" wheels. The tires were 165/65/14's. I got a set of Ford Contour SVT wheels that I thought I could make fit. I had to get Eibach 3/4" wheel spacers to move the wheels away from the body to fit the 16X7" wheels and 195/45/16 tires. The rear fender lips also had to be cut completely off to keep from rubbing. As you can see from the first photo I tinted all the windows in the BX. The front windshield has a 11" front strip. The front window are 5% black limo tint and all the rear window have TWO layers of 5% black limo tint, I also painted the trim around the window gloss black due to the heavy faiding which had occured. I shaved all the emblems off the back and took of the stock vinyl striping.
TUCKIN'
GOT GAP?
Citroen ridin' high?...ha ha
DROPPED...
The paint is old but after a couple of waxes it turned out pretty well.
Here are a few pics that I took up in the mountains.
This car was something I picked up to save some gas before I wrecked my 97 Taurus SHO, it then turned into my hobby car to keep me busy. Let me know what you think.
