Numbers and Dynos

Here is where I'll show my actual numbers and estimate others.

These are my old numbers, after I have my dyno sheets I'll post the Stage 4 information.

My Stage 2 motor only dyno sheet on 91 octane pump gas

Red is before the tune, blue is after.

The dyno shows I'm putting 260 awhp to the pavement. So accounting for the parasitic transmission I figure roughly 18% power loss from the crank. Meaning an estimated 315 hp at the crank.

How did I come up with 18%? Well the normal conservative estimate for transmission power lose is 15%. I started with my Cobb AP Stage 2 ACN 91 map which was rated at 280 hp. I then compared it to my test pull from the dyno. At 280 crank hp I was making 230.7 awhp to the pavement, roughly 18%. Since the physical characteristics of the transmission didn't change I kept that 18% calculation after the retune.

Now for 100 octane gas. Switching from 93 to 91 octane typically comes at a cost of 4% power lose on average per my research. So by switching to 100 oct. from 91 oct. there should be roughly a 4% hp gain per 2 octane. Other than the physical feeling while driving the car, I can only run the estimated numbers. I came up with an estimated hp gain of 56 but I say an even 50 to be conservative. Bringing the motor hp to between 360 and 365 horses.

Which brings us to the juice. Based on Nitrous Express' website boasting the performance increases of an intercooler sprayer kit, I estimate my hp gain using the sprayer up to 50 hp. Once again I can only tell you how fast it feels, as I don't have dyno proof only calculations. With the combination of the STI intercooler water sprayer and the NOS it prolongs the freeze as the intercooler ices up. Plus that is only on 91 octane pump gas. If timing and spark were advanced by using 100 octane gas, I would imagine the hp gain would be more.

Finally, and this is not finished yet, the NOS fogger system. NOS works entirely different on turbo cars. A 35 shot of NOS tends to make about 50 hp in a WRX. For safety sake I'm starting with a 30 - 35 shot of NOS because I'm not trying to break anything. I'm currently waiting due to budget constraints to finish the install. Only a few items remain.

If anyone disagrees or has some better figures to go on, please leave me a message. I'm not trying to inflate my numbers, I'd rather be realistic and not look stupid pulling up to the line. I'm completely open to constructive responses.

Summary: (all numbers are crank hp)

Motor only 91 oct - 315 hp
Motor only 100 oct - 360 hp
Motor + I/C sprayer 91 oct - 360 hp
Motor + NOS 91 oct - 365 hp

There are a lot of possible combinations.
