UPDATES August 30, 2011 on pg 4

Since completion the Elky has been shown in several shows with many wins including Best Conversion at the West Palm Super Chevy in fall of 2007 and Best In Class at Super Chevy 2009.

Another 3 to 9 years should just about get it totally finished!

I purchased the Elcamino off Ebay and picked it up on January 12, 2007. The odometer had quit at 175,000. It was a 229 V6 with a 200, ps, pb, AC and a maroon bench seat interior. No pw or locks. Mechanically worn out but basically a straight rust free car.

It now is blessed with a 0.030 over 455 Buick(464CI), a Tremec
TKO600 5 speed with a 10 bolt(87 Gran National)8.5 - 3.42 posi, Moser axles. Tilt steering, power windows and locks were added during 2008.

The 455 is a 73 block built with Jahns forged pistons, Isky cam, Melling high volume oil pump, Edelbrock B4B intake, MSD Ignition, TA Performance cam, double groove cam bearings and full length headers. Automotive Machine Performance oil pressure balance line, pump plate and pan baffle. Oil galleys enlarged and chamfered through out. All ports are matched, chambers cc'd, 9.75:1 calculated compression (10.1 in March 09). Stage 1 valves, Stellite valve seats with bronze silicone guides. The carb is the stock 800 CFM Quadrajet (nothing sounds like a spread bore trying to suck the paint through the metal in the hood).
