Janis was bought from my grandfather-in-law in February '06. He had owned it for twenty years, after buying it from the U.S. Department of the Interior, where it served as a Forest Service vehicle (this explains the bright yellow-orange paint in the interior).
They had very kindly bought a new 3-speed automatic transmission and built a 318 engine for it. I helped, but only in the final stages of the rebuild.
Since then, a variety of upgrades have been made, including a recent upgrade to the Edelbrock 4-barrel carburetor and intake.
The truck's wiring system is going to be soon replaced with a Painless generic harness.
