I'm starting a bullit proof rear end for the spyder, I bought a crossmember out of a sebring v-6 (second one I will have put in, but this one came with a sway bar to bad it was cut.) I'm waiting for my crossmember brace from dsmparts.com and wondering which sway bar to use Tanabe or my original plan of Suspension Techniques. If any one has any other sway bar company's they think I should check out, let me know. My front shocks are going out and I just ordered a set of tokico's for the front from slowboyracing.com I will put pictures up when I get them installed (that is the one thing I will not mess with is shocks and springs, don't trust my self with them.)
bushing went completely out so I just grabed parts off the sebring rear end. Pic of me cutting the old one out.
the old arm
subframe brace in
and muffler gone
my hood flew up and hit my windshield and busted it to shit so I am looking for a new hood or might just paint it after I fix it, hard to beleive that my hood busted and not my windsheild. One good update is the front bumper is almost done, get pics as soon as possible. Some one hit the front of the spyder while taking my ex to school, its like Im a hit and run magnet!
8/11/08 Every time I get a little bit of money somthing goes wrong with it and needs fixed. The spyder jumped timing so I bought a new daily driver (will post pics later, I thought Id never own a ford but its pretty decent.) I plan on doing the DOHC head swap sooner than excpected so if any one has a 7 bolt head (from the cams down), intake mani, and fuel rail hit me up, I need to get my spyder runnin!
3/29/09 I guess I havent been on for a while. I ended up just getting the top end rebuilt SOHC, well this is how it goes, I got it back thursday 3/26/09 drove it to work that night and drove home, took pics with my bros new to him 70' beetle, drove it to work friday night then a couple of the guys and I wanted to go to bojangles (I cant spell) for lunch and we all piled in and i started it up and I hear a real naste tick I said it was the head, the guys said it was the bottom end ( I was right) and had to have it towed back to the shop saturday morning, (I got a ride from my bro home).
It may not be a 5000 dollar paint job but it is better than purple and no more rust. I will be painting it white when I fix the body all the way. I'm also going to do the 4G64 motor.
rear fender DONE!
and a new intake.
I spent a few hours working on the front again, it is almost all lined back up just the hood and it will look like it is supposed to. (other than the last owners bad purple paint job on the head lights) I'm going to fiberglass the front bumper back together. Now I need to pull the quarter and it'ill good as new, then paint.
If you use ebay you have probably seen these picture's they where taken with out my permission and if you take a picture (why I don't know) please ask first.
I have been working on this even before I got the car. It still it not finished, I have to make another piece to hold more gauges, I didn't like the toggle switch there.
Me and my dog working on the rear end. He had to be put down feb 2 because he had a tumer in his stomach, he will never be forgotten.
the back end
I shaved the dot number off of the third brake light. I think it turned out pretty well.
Who knew it snowed in El Paso?
I was going to finish painting it while I was off of work, when I walked out side I saw this, can't finish it today, lol.
Carbon fiber who doesnt like the look of this? I took the front bumper off to get the hood to fit, I got it to fit, I found out never buy a carbon fiber hood from the junk yard, it was bowed and I need a new one.
shaved key hole for the trunk
My engine now, I didn't paint it, the same idiot that painted the head lights did that and the other numerous purple marks under the hood.
