Here is my 69 Chevy Truck! New project. It is a daily driver. The guy that had it lost his license and he decided to get rid of her. He had her since 1991. It sat two years...I had her towed home cause of the expired plates. She needs some work....but for $100.00 and some work I did on his stereo...it was well worth it! the best thing about this truck...is everything is manual! No Power anything...brakes steering trans...all manual! I will be taking extensive part by part pictures as I go along.
UPDATE 10/15/07 I put the bumper on today. was a pain but its done. The biggest help I had was the motorcycle jack. Its good for holding up doors too. I got a piston looking sifter knob. I got the rear end 5 lug axles and backing plates off. Tomorrow I will change that stuff out. Pics page 7.
UPDATE 10/14/07 I had to change those seats! Couldnt stand them anymore. I bought a 77 Chevy half ton and I am robbing it for parts. First I took off the 77 was a Pioneer stereo. Then the seat. With implements of destruction in hands...I was off to the 69 to get rid of those 2nd Gen Camaro seats! Who ever put them in wasnt thinking one bit. The base was 2X4's been bolted down...and the seats nailed to them! I ripped them out with a crow bar. I took the back bumper off the 77. I will put it on the 69 later today. Pics on page 6.
UPDATE 10/4/07 The truck went out on its first long trip. I had to go and pick up a guys bike 40 miles away. Since I work on bikes now....the truck has to stay together for a little while longer. So a 80 mile round trip wasnt bad. I didnt expect anything to go wrong...but you never know. I know I dont have the original motor. So a 73 motor sits in its place. I dont know how many miles are on the truck or motor....but the odometer turned 86,000 today. It could be 386,000 for all I know. But there a back with no problems. Pics on page 6!
UPDATE: 9/19/07 The Firebird isnt taking all my time at the moment. The truck got a Edelbrock 1406 650 CFM carb and spacer put on her. Its a used carb...but still good. The Firebird got the old carb that was on the truck. I didnt know if I could trust the Edelbrock carb yet with Julie driving the Firebird everyday. I knew I could trust the truck carb.
UPDATE: 8/24/07 Its no longer an everyday driver. Now I can get things done to it. I have had little problem with this truck to keep it functional. The first thing I changed was the Hurst car shifter off the floor...cause it was a piece of junk. It kept hanging up. I know it can be rebuilt...but why bother. Its a car shifter. I bought a Mr. Gasket 3 speed truck shifter. for $60.00 it took care of the shifting problem...plus I have it in right. The old shifter was reversed. Meaning that 1st was where reverse should be. After 2 months of driving...the master cyl gave out and took a line with it. So I did some repairs and a new master cyl. The lines are temporary...so I didnt get all technical on that. For less than $30.00 I fixed that problem. I changed out the point distributor for an HEI unit. I had backfire at high rev like the points were floating. Now the truck starts alot better. I put new plug wires on. Cheap set for the moment with new plugs. I got a line on 2 69 Chevy trucks with decent cabs. I will know more in a week. I missed out on a 454 in a 79 chevy truck yesterday I found out. My neighbor pretty much gave the whole truck away. That would have been nice. I would have been able to put more money in the truck...but I got my girlfriend a 89 Firebird that is giving me fits. The truck has proved to be a better vehicle.-
UPDATE: 8/31/07 I decided to spray bomb the truck black primer. It looks better this way then 4 different colors. It wont stay this way.

Here is the left side. It has some bondo in the left front fender. Bed is in pretty good shape.
Here is the front. The grille has a dent in it...along with the hood in the same spot.
Here is the right side. The bed has a dent in it right behind the cab. The cab has a dent in the top of the cab on the right side. A tree branch came down and caved it in on that side. So I pounded it back up. I will maybe just replace the whole cab if I have to.
This is the right rear. It needs a little work. Over all the bed is savable.
The exhaust is duals. The guy replaced the whole exhaust right before he lost his license.

Love it! It's funny, I have the exact same steering wheel! My engine is in a *little* better condition than yours though. ;)

Hey Tim, thanks for checking out my 72! If it wasn't for 67-72chevytrucks.com, I don't think the truck would be as far as it is. Looks like we're close enough, we might have to meet up sometime. The truck looks like it is coming right along. Good luck with the build!Nate
