News for May 25, 2009

Wow it has been over a year since my last update. A few things have been done to my car since my last update and I still have more to do. Unfortunately, the pics that I have of the progress of the things that have been done are on my other computer which is down at the moment so I can't post them. However, I do have some pictures of the finished product on this computer which can be seen below this paragraph. The biggest things that I have done are rebuilding the entire braking system and installing new carpet in the car which really makes it look much better. The car looks pretty much the same except for the new carpet as you can see. Hopefully soon I will be able to post the pics of the progress of the things that have been done and I hope to be on more often too. I also just bought a 1985 Porsche 944 with 50,000 miles on it to be my daily driver so I should be making a Cardomain page for that too; so look for that to come soon.

Also, I wanted to say sorry to everyone who has joined The British Car Group for not posting pictures of their cars and getting more involved with the group. If I ever get the time to do it, I will try to post the pictures up of the cars that I have not. However, I can't guarantee that I will as there are now 65 and counting members. One more thing; Welcome to the group to the members that I have not said it to.

News for March 2, 2008

First off, let me say that it has been along time since my last update and that this is, in fact, my first update of the year for this car. Anyways, several things have been going on with my car latey. I finally made a page for the project I have been talking about for so long (Page 6). This project was a Rotoflex to CV Joint Axle conversion. I also posted pictures of the new tires that I put on my car on the CV axle page and made a page for The Brits By The Bay Car Show that I went to in September like I said I would (Page 7). There are alot of good pictures so check these pages out. I have not been driving the car alot lately because of the weather, school, brakes, and the fact that I have a place to store it from the elements for another month. Right now I am saving up money to buy brake parts so that I can redo the brakes. I have a rear brake kit but still need new rotors, a caliper rebuild kit, and new brake pads. I just bought a rebuilt brake master cylinder on ebay yesterday so that should be coming soon. I did this because I think my original is going to need to be resleaved and to resleave and rebuild it is over 175 dollars if Apple Hydraulics does it. So I decided instead to pay 120 dollars for one that has been honed, powerwashed, and rebuilt which I think will be just as good. I also got a new carpet kit for Christmas so that will be installed in the spring along with a new armrest and the brakes being rebuilt. Plenty to come soon so Keep checking back; but in the meantime check out the pages I just made and look at the Past News Page for a review.

:::INITIAL CAR DESCRIPTION:::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::

This is my 1972 Triumph GT6 that I have owned since I was 15. This car is very original with the exception of a repaint and a high performance stainless steel bell exhaust system. This car is in very good shape for being original and has only about 82,000 original miles on an unrebuilt engine and tranny. It also has the very rare feature of overdrive that is electronically controlled by a switch on the shifter. While I have only had this car since I was 15, its been in my family for at least 20 years as my father and uncle owned it before me. They jointly bought for 300 dollars from one of their friends who could not get it running. Upon purchasing it, they quickly found out that their friend had the spark plug wires mixed up and they got the car running in an hour. My uncle and my father drove the car around for awhile and did some work to it such as new suspension until they both loss the time to mess with it. It then ended up sitting in my uncle's climate controlled basement for about 17 years. Then it was pushed outside because he needed the space and thats when he told me he would rather see me get it going than have it sit outside in the elements. We took a day to clean the carbs, fuel lines, change the oil, clean various eletrical connections, etc., and had it running for the first time in seventeen years that day. I then had an ok paint job put on it so that It would be presentable and it is now my daily driver except for the winter and any other bad weather days. One day in the future I hope to do a frame off restoration on it, but for now it's a driver.

These are Pictures of it now:

This exhaust system looks great, sounds great, and is fully stainless steel.

Interior is completely original but needs carpet and a new armrest.

These are Pictures of the Car before I added the exhaust system and wheel trim rings. Other than that, it still looks exactly the same:

Here is a photoshopped picture by Dboy23 of the wheels that I am going to put on my car. I just don't know what size I am going to go with yet. Probably something smaller. Let me know what you think in my guestbook:

Oh the GT6 a very nice looking car. I think with the rims that 17 or 18 inch id plenty. if any bigger they will look really out of place againts such an old car with such modern rims. Be careful with that. I have something close to the GT. I own a TR6 that i have been trying to make it go faster and faster and faster. Recent engine rebuild and the addition of the biggest cam possible and electronic ignition, double valve springs and a little head work. But it still not enough so from America is coming a super charger kit. I do not have any photos of the beast up yet but soon will. long process these old english cars. Expecially down under. Have a look at my rides.
