The body work is finished and the college paint job is complete.

Here is a picture with the pin stripes installed, and with the race numbers and rims painted.

The frame top for the convertible arrived today.  It works perfect, but I plan to sandblast and repaint soon.

I've been working on the transmission, cleaning it up, and getting it ready for rebuild.  I think this is going to be an easy fix, but stay tuned to see what happens.

I ordered the last remaining part to reassemble the transmission!  I was missing the center needle bearing connecting the two shafts.  I'm back home on the MS Gulf Coast for the holidays, but will be back in town on the 28th or 29th.  I had left my camera on the coast on Thanksgiving, so I'll be able to take more pictures now.  Since it was Christmas, I went ahead and bought myself a small present in the form of a Petronix Ignitor electronic ignition.  The steps seem simple now: reassemble the transmission since I have all the parts now, attach the transmission to the engine, bolt the assembly into the car and attach the driveshaft, hook up the distributor and the ignition system, hook up the fuel system and regulator, sand blast and turn the rotors and drums, and install the new brake pads.

I removed the front wheels and supported the car on jackstands.  Now I'm planning the brake assembly rebuild and if I am just going to revamp my current rotors or replace them.  I also purchased two new magnetic MSU logos!

The rotors and brake assembly look pretty rough, but so did everything else on this car in the beginning.

The transmission is finally completed!  I spent about 10 more minutes on it last night and figured out I had one plunger in the incorrect position all of this time.  Here are some pictures of the transmission finally together and functional.  The plan is to drop the engine and transmission back into the car this weekend!!!

With the help of my friends Ryan Poe and Jim Feazel, we installed the engine and transmission into the healey.  We ended up using a 2X8" board, with one person on each side of the board and using a strap connected to the engine block, and with one person lifting the engine itself and guiding it into position.  On the second try, she went in flawlessly.  The assembly is now in the car and there isn't much left to do before I can post videos of it running! (IF...all goes well, and we all know how quickly plans can change).  As you can see in the first picture below, the rims are painted black on the inside.  A friend noted how much the solid red rims took away from the overall scheme of the car, so I'm running through various paint schemes and deciding on one later this semester.

I removed the grill and installed the radiator minus hoses today.  The ignition coil is also installed.  The game plan is to hook up the lines to the slave cylinder after figuring out where they go, install the starter, followed by the distributor, and alternator.  After all the wiring and lines are ran for the fuel and ignition systems, I will try to crank the car.  Then I'm removing the carbs for a complete run through.

The top radiator hose, slave cylinder lines, the starter, distributor with 12V neg. ground Petronix Ignitor electronic ignition, and the alternator are now all installed.

The second radiator hose is now installed and the door overtravel straps are connected.  The exhaust manifold was also removed because I need to remove two broken studs.

My father lusted after one of these. He called it a 'frog-eyed sprite' which was the contemporary nickname of the time. (He also wore an onion on his belt, which was the style at the time. I'm kidding - it was a potato.) They're rare and you are right to restore her to former glory. Happy riding!
