Our 1955 Ford Thunderbird
was originally found by its previous owner in a field, literally overgrown with weeds, no doubt sent to pasture to die a slow and lonely death. This man of vision purchased the car (or perhaps more accurately, the "shell") in 1973 for $750.00 (I have the original handwritten receipt [& picture of the car in the field], no doubt excitedly written on a small piece of note paper). He fully restored the vehicle twice over his years of ownership, in 1973 and again in about 1993. Over the years, he maintained maticulous and exceptionally detailed records of each restoration, to include almost every dollar and cent he spent on the vehicle each year he owned it (amazingly handwritten, year-to-year, in detailed columns on "yellow legal sized" sheets of paper!), and also maintained quite a photographic record as well (not to mention the referenced handmade receipt). This T-Bird Fanatic was also a loyal member of CTCI (Classic Thunderbird Club International), keeping almost every Club Magazine for literally decades. All this rich and wonderful material was provided to us when we were fortunate enough to acquire the car many years ago from the restorer's widow a few years after his unfortunate passing. The car was pricipally housed in the previous owner's home state of Utah, only to relocate to the State of Oregon for a few years following the owner's passing.
We then carefully packed-up the car (and all its history in written and picture form) for its relocation to our Home State of Hawaii where we have enjoyed it, showed it and loved it for a number of years in our beautiful Island State.
We are Members of CTCI as well as very active in our local affliated Club, Classic Birds of Paradise, and also members of Vintage Thunderbird Club International.
We truly hope you, the T-Bird fanatic viewer, enjoy our car as much as we do. As we say here in our Island home, Aloha & Mahalo for taking the time to say, Howzit! Now, sit back, relax and enjoy several more pictures of our wonderful classic 'Lil Bird which, by the way, is a "Daily Driver" -----
As an Added Bonus, Please Enjoy the Following Pictures which were taken at an "Invitation-Only" Car Show at Aloha Tower, at the Beautiful Honolulu Harbor (I hope you'll admire the 1956 Volswagen Karmann Kabriolett, Type 1 in our Car Domain "Garage")..................
