Page 4: New Pics UPDATED OCTOBER 2009
Hey my name is Zion, and this is my 1989 Honda CRX Si. AKA- Maxine. I did this project in 31 days and a total of 250 hours working on her. I custom built the sub and amp enclosure, as well as wired all the audio and video components. My head unit is a Pioneer 4900 AVH DVD screen, my amps are a Kenwood 450 and Kenwood 250. My subs are MTX MZS 10" subs.
This is a picture on delivery day. The Stork gave me just what I wanted.
And the picture below is what I drive today.
The picture below is a picture of my stock si motor. I painted the valve cover and heatshield just to spice things up.
These are the finished photos, build pictures will come afterwards.
UPDATED PICTURES, July 2008.
I got some new rims, and lowered the car with some Skunk2 Coilover springs.
I also got a new Momo Steering wheel, Carbon texture Indiglo face gauges, and A-pillar dual gauge pods. The Autometer gauges come with standard lightbulbs either red or green, so I bored the housings out and put blue LED's in them to match the gauges.
I also put a Playstation 2 in the rear and Guitar Hero 2, just in case I feel the need to play GH2 while driving. HAHA.
Now the build pics:
The rust on this car was everywhere. Most of it I fixed with fiberglass.
As the body work continued I started on the audio part of the install. Here are some skeletal pics of the box and amp enclosure.
These are some pics of the amp rack.
This is the amp cases and sub enclosure together.
This is the box wrapped in cloth and resin applied to it.
I took the factory speaker grills and ripped off the cloth cover and made some speaker rings and fiberglassed over the enclosure to fit 6 1/2" speakers on the outside.
These are some preliminary fit tests.
The body work continues...
Fiberglass mat is now aplied to the separate pieces and a lot of sanding afterwards.
Then I applied duraglass to solidify the structure as well as smoothen out the rough texture of the fiberglass mat.
To be able to fit my short ram intake I needed to remove the battery plate and reposition it a few inches to the left and down a few inches.
Next I ripped apart the center console to start the stereo installation and trip painting.
More sanding and more layers of duraglass and finishing putty.
These are test fitting the center console to see how it looks.
Today I took the car out for a quick wash and some new shoes.
Now some paint for the box, primer then base and clear.
After all the test fitting looked good I ripped apart the entire trunk for dynamat and wiring.
Then I put everything back.
Some pics of the in-dash screen.
I didnt like the line of the car with the antenna sticking out so I decided to shave it off.
Time for paint prep (hours of sanding) and painting.
And these are some pics I took at my shop.
And thats all she wrote. Thanks for watching. Hopefully I have enough time to do it all over again. =) I don't know if Im willing to spend another month of my life in a garage.
Anyways, I hope you enjoyed. Seeya later.
