Updates

Since my last posting a lot has changed in the set up of the car.

The 89 SC bar is actually 29mm not 30 disregard the part number for the front sway bar mid bushing kit.

Now since I have driven the car teh hard the front bar is horrible at clunking so Im motivated to get the 1.25 addco bar to match the rear and be done with it, if this certain someone is willing to let it go for the price Im willing to pay. I will wait like a buzzard until no one will want it and buy it for pennies on the dollar.

I have an exhaust project that will become a 2.25" true duel w/ hi flow cats.

I was given a 98 mark 8 lsc exhaust cat back exhaust with runs all the way through the gas tank and to the muffs. I was donated 2 muffs from an 90 SC. I have only to fab up the cat section using my 2.5" cats this will require some reducers but should be an easy cut and paste project in my garage.

I have a free set of '90 SC wheels in nice shape. New tires will come soon. Current tires are good and no need to rush as Im still paying off...

A new trans TC combo with 87 octane tune using an Xcal 2 and 02 Gt mustang Mafs.

Well what really screwed me to using the CC to pay for this was the terrible timing of a 6 month insurance payment plus traffic school payment ;) So I sucked it up and have it nearly paid off.

Well Ive got 2 months left to pay it off more or less, so until then all projects are on hold. Plus I swung out 500 in cash to have this dropped in Trans and TC and tune . Install done by the Peora shop called Hi-Tech Street Rods. Mel was the guy who installed the trans in less than 7 hours from drop off to pick up. A total pro and I didnt miss any work which is important since my car used for my job.

Trans build info

Casing: 99 crown victoria

TC: 11.25" maruader w/ billet front cover + drain plug

Mark8 fly wheel

4R75W Gear set

Hardend Sun shell and sun gear

Hardend OEM stub shaft

350 HP J-Mod

Updated Valve body with updated internals

Forced tailshaft lube mod with stainless steel braided line.

All topped with Mercon V synthetic

Trans and TC mods all done by Alan at Dirty Dog Performance.

This combo really wakes the cars potential up in a big way. It almost feels like a manual with the shaking of the TC locking and and unlocking. The shifts are very firm and snappy. With stock engine and gears the car chirps tires off the line.

New steering rack installed after I killed the old

Anyone who does any reading on how hard this job is wishes they had a miracle tool to change out a steering rack. I dont have any pics of the steering rack but I remembered to buy new ford line fittings. There are 2 special ford fittings on 2 power steering lines that are located under the engine mount, very hard to get to Anyway here is the special wrench that gets those tight fittings. Makes it nearly easy.

Unscrew that black part and the notch clears the metal lip by the motor mount. The handle is short and thin  The adjustable end has a long reach and makes it possble to get the fitting at an angle which is key.

A couple new shots of the headliner and sun visors.

The headliner has held up looking pretty nice and the same for the sun visors. Quite nice didnt want t do it again and spend more $$$.

New goal is to chage the horrible front sway bar problem, fab up new exhaust, replace broken steering column, buy and mount tires for SC 16" rims. The wait is killing me but gotta be responible w the money.

I am in no rush to get a speeding ticket as the car is already way too fun. People have no idea grandma isnt behind the wheel.

Future plans still waiting to happen are the 3.73 gears and the PI intake swap. The gears are way too tire melting for my 15"ers in the summer time so they pushed back until the SC rims and bigger tires go on. The motor mounts are still a maybe. The mark 8 arms aren't happening until I complete a full MN12 performance rear end build up.

I also found and replaced my old spare with a 16" mark8 lightweight spare, very tough to find.. well I found two and since I could car less about drag racing with skinnies I let a buddy buy the other one.

Thanks for the advice on the rust. I plan on doing that until I can get mine fixed. I did manage to polish the headlights and LOVE the results. They almost look clear again (almost). I keep coming back to your page for inspiration (your car is beautiful! and the same color as mine). Again thanks!
