I have had my car since I was 17 (15 years). I bought it from my friend Paul. We used to street race my 1978 Mustang Ghia against his 1978 Mach 1. The cars were almost equal, but one day my Ghia pulled a few car lenghts on his Mach. So my friend grabbed his tools. On his day off he started doing some test & tune on the old country road where we used to race. I guess the farmers on the road had heard enough of the cherry bombs for one day, they called the police. At the end of his 1/4 mile run a cop was waiting for him. He got a 180kmph in a 60 zone!! The ticket was $800.00. My friend could not afford the ticket, so I bought his car for $800.00. At that point I tore it down to nothing and had the uni-body powder blasted. After the blast, my Friend Mike helped me weld-in a 6 point Comp roll bar. The suspension was rebuilt with all new components and poly bushings. The shocks are KYB GR2'S. The rear sway bar is stock and the front one was taken off a King Cobra. (a 1" bar). The new front springs are for an air condintioned II. The rear springs were custom made with 5 leafs. The spare tire well was boxed to accept a fuel cell. The engine is a re-man 5.0l with a total power package from Edelbrock, including: 600 CFM Carb, intake, chain, heads and even Vic's nitrous kit. 300hp on the engine with another 100hp in the bottle. Non Edelbrock parts include Ford racing E303 cam, push rods, oil pump drive, Crane cams Roller rockers and an MSD billit distributor, 6A box, Accel Super Coil, Taylor wires. The fuel system has a Carter HP electric pump and a Holley regulator plumbed in 3/8" hard line. The headers are Cyclones (no longer made). Exhaust consists of a custom made 2 1/2" system modeled after a Fox Mustang. (Removeable H-pipe). The system has 2 Flowmaster 40's placed where the gas tank used to be and they dump in the center of the rear bumper (Shelby Mustang Style). The front brakes are a kit from Allstar. Granada rotors with GM metric cailipers. The rear brakes are stock re-built with the axles re-drilled to 5 on 4 1/2" bolt pattern. The wheels are Wheel Vintiques 14 x 7" Magnum 500's with BFG T/A 225/60/14 front and 245/60/14" rears. 3.55 gears and a mini spool are in the stock re-built 8" Ford rear-end. Shifts are handeled by a B&M star shifter and a re-built C4 with larger drums and more frictions with a manual valve body. An Art Carr flex mates the late model 5.0l to the transmission. Cooling the beast is a kustom 3 core rad (based on a 1975 II rad)with two 10" MR. Gasket electric fans. The suspension and steering were rebuilt using all new components purchased at a discount (when I worked at Canadian Tire). Energy suspension bushings were used and custom made 5 leaf, leaf springs were made at KW spring. The interior is gutted and minimal. Two kool old crusty, musty Lynx Recaro's, a Grant steering wheel and Autometer gauges make up the interior. The body has some small kustom mods. The door handels, locks, gas filler cap and antenna are shaved. A 60's ford hood scoop provides cold air to the engine and it has turn signal indicators in it for ah.....safety. The Paint is base coat clear Ford Grabber Blue/ Semi gloss black. I would like to thank my Friends Paul and Mike for their countless hours of work on my dream car.
