THANKS FOR VISITING! REMEMBER TO RATE MY RIDE AND SIGN MY GUESTBOOK SO I CAN DO THE SAME FOR YOURS!!!!!
My pages are in a chronological order from May 2007 onward. I am going to do my best to detail every change made to this car, from the smallest paint detail to major upgrades and modifications. I hope this inspires some people, with better or worse cars and large to miniscule budgets, to take up the passion of working on a car and making it your own in more ways then you ever imagined. I have done all modifications myself and will continue to do so because its just the best way to do it :).
.
Alright, I came to realize a while back that my need to tune/pimp/personalize a car was insatiable and seeing as I'm a college student with a limited budget and a 96 corolla, I work with what I have. I bought this car in 2005, my first car and completely owned by me (insurance, registration, repairs, etc). I love this car to death, but as I said, recently I got bit by the tuning bug. So barring the small college budget and lack of experience with cars when i started:
It has come a long way from stock in a variety of ways now and I have learned more than I ever imagined.
Mad props to my boy Fish for teaching me everything under the sun about electronics and letting me use him, his garage, and his tools whenever I wanted. And a shout out to Extreme Engineering, our p-way based car club, for encouraging when others would have discouraged.
These are the pics of my dear car. This is my first car and I've owned it for about 2 years. I didn't start working on it until last year and even then, it wasn't working on it so much as throwing accesories at it. Before these pictures were ever taken, i had made my interior completely red and black with everything that pepboys and autozone had to offer. Suffice to say that it didn't match at all, was pretty cheaply thrown together, and even though i loved it, i fell out of love with it and decided that new steps, colors, and methods had to be undertaken (but for that color scheme and many other reasons do i call my car Moses :) ). Now I've changed everything again and these pics are the beginning of the corolla transformation. STAY TUNED FOR FREQUENT PICTURE, INFO, AND DIY UPDATES!!! It's hard to see in the dark, I know, but it was the only time I had to take some pics. I'll put more up soon. On the exterior, I've installed clear corner lights, clear bumper lights, and Cyber White foglights.
On the interior, I've painted my dash, vents, and consoles with a tan/teal/white color scheme to match the factory teal paint and taupe/tan interior. I've changed the stock shift knob to an ichiban leather shift knob and white AR shift boot (but the cool thing is its an automatic :] ). Custom seat covers were made by me to match the color scheme and the taupe floor mats were changed to tan (not much of a difference, but it matters). And to top it off, my dashboard Buddha (i've named him Moses).
Audio modifications are a full display Sony CDX-8800 head unit, front 4" Xplod Speakers, rear 6.5" Xplod Speakers, 900watt Kenwood Amp, direct auxilary hook up for IPOD located in the center console, and two 12" 400 watt Rockford Subs in the trunk. Its a lot of bump, oy, this car wasn't made for it but I love it.
Paid for and incoming are 15" OEM Acura RL rims with new Falken High Performance Tires (fit perfectly on the Corolla), OBX Racing Headers with 4-2-1 downpipe, OBX High flow Cat, and Vibrant Short Ram Air Intake. Will install and picture soon.
Future mods are performance upgrades; engine, suspension, brakes. Looking for lowering springs, big brake kits, and a good catback exhaust. As to audio upgrades, I would like to dynamat (or an equivalent) my car because the audio is loud and clear as it is, just have to stop the trunk and door rattle (the car was definitly not made for heavy speakers and subs). Interior I would like to reupholster with the same color scheme, just with real pleather/leather on the seats and dash. Lastly, I would like to put on a body kit, probably the bomber corolla body kit because it's cheapest :).
