This is Project: High Rise!
June 10th, 2007 (6-10-2007)
I received the red 1984 Dodge RAM 100 as a gift for Christmas and 16th birthday. The truck is a shortbed 2 wheel drive slant 6 with a 3 spd overdrive (4spd I guess you could say). When I was using the truck I decided to replace the carpet and install bucket seats. A few months later the truck decided it needed to rest and wouldn't run reliably anymore. I put the truck in what I would have thought would be it's final resting place untill my grandfather just recently said that if I find a another engine we can bring it back to life. I went looking online and found myself a few engines with prices ranging from $50 to $300 and still needed rebuilding. I waited a few weeks and looked again. I found a totaled 1988 Dodge RAM 150 shortbed with a 318/V8, automatic and 4x4. The family that owned this truck bought it for there son. Unfortunatly during the snow storm we (Baltimore, MD) had in early 2007 the son had a blow out while driving in the snow and fliped the truck multiple times. The truck is totaled, but the frame is not bent and the engine and full drive train works flawlessly. There is a pretty freshly rebuilt (30k miles ago) 318/V8 and BRAND NEW WARN Gold Series locking hubs that were just installed a few months before. I went to check the truck out and it fired right up without fail. Two weeks later I picked the truck up. I drove it down the driveway (verifed that 4 wheel High and Low worked. Flawless) and up on the trailer. When I got it home I drove back off the trailer and decided I would ensure that 4 wheel drive worked. Note that our driveway is stone. I put the truck in 4 low and punched the gas a little, it spun all 4 wheels! I now know that the transfer case and locking hubs work. I put the truck in the shop and took some pictures (Page 3). I have also taken pictures of my truck, they are also on page 3. Page 4 contains thw current progress on the truck. Check it out!
