My 1990 VW Jetta Coupe Wolfsburg, AKA The Red Sled

My final concept of the car, im thinkin different rims though

I bought her off of Ebay for $500 and got myself into a mess of a project car. When i got her she wasnt running and the previous owner thought it was a head gasket problem, it turned out to be a warpped head.

As my dad and I ripped into the top half, we replaced a lot of parts and machined and port and polished the head.

At the same time I pulled the dash out to replace the heater/cooling unit and ports with all new parts.

With all the new parts in, I re-installed the dash and console.

My dad rebuilt the head and both installed it onto the inspected block.

At this time I also went under the car to make sure everything was fine and came across my suspension to find out that its out of a 1991 Jetta GLI, which is a nice plus cause the cars a little lower now.

I have right now rare 1990 VW optional Tear Drop rims from the factory, polished and cleared.

She got closer and closer to being done.

Engine fully assembled, now came the annoying task of fixxing al lthe hack job wiring in the engine bay.

Came across some more goodies while the car was up in the air,
I have a full 2 1/4" free flow exhaust from the header back with a GTI exhaust manifold, Euro Sport Downpipe and now a gutted high flow cat flowing into a DynoMax muffler.
Only thign was is that the idiot never put a tip on the muffler, now i have a messed up rear bumper:

I also found out through and argument with my dad that I have a Neuspeed Short Throw Shifter in the car:

Along with a cut down shifter and solid shift rod.
We got the car running around 2AM and pissed of some people, but it was worth it, sounds nice, no rocker ticking, I was burning a little oil but no big deal...haha...my main concern was no muffler tip so i made one as a temp:

Straight up rice

If anyone else has a VW this year, they know how annoying this little thing is:

I swapped out some interior parts for all black ones I picked up at the parts yard for $50:

Before:

After:
Then I had an unfortunate event on the way to school about a week after fixing it...

I lost oil pressure in the #4 cylinder and welded the rod to the crank, bent the rods, blew a hole in a piston, bent a bunch of valves, warpped the head, broke the crank and stripped 2 lobes on the cam....not a fun day for me.
So she sat in my driveway for a while like this:

Then finally someone had a 1.8L 8v for sale thart I picked up for $250 and my dad and I went and put it in the Jetta.

Just foolin around before the engine went back in.
