The car was purchased in the last week of January 2007 and came equipped with the following :
1> 15” Matt Black Alloys shod with 205/50/15 F1 GS D2 tyres which had more or less lived their life.
2> K&N OE replacement filter
3> Stiffened Shocks & Springs
4> Gizzmo Electronics Vtec/Mivec Controller
5> Gizzmo Electronics 2 steg shift light
6> Sports Steering & Gear Knob.
7> Add on Body kit
8> Aluminium adjustable width front & rear Strut Braces
9> Locally Altered short shifter rod
First thing I did was get the car serviced, carbon cleaned, replaced all oils, filters, injectors cleaned and engine compression checked as the car had done approx 43,000 kms and I had no idea about the condition it was in. It seemed to be running fine and compression was 100% perfect. Now to move forward with the modding. The very next day I plopped in a Ractive SF 100 conical filter with custom SS intake pipe, Iridium Plugs, Max Speed 9mm plug wires and a custom free flow exhaust. The car was fast but I was not satisfied so I got the head opened, Ported/polished, intake polished and throttle body enlarged. Now the car meant business and I realized its high time I needed better rubber so on to the next step, installed Yokohoma AVS Sport 205/50/15 two weeks prior to the Speed Run.
Two days prior to the Speed Run whilst practicing I ended up frying my clutch plate, so in went a Daikin after market clutch set and was back to business. Was very happy with my practice timings and was confident of clocking a ET in the 15.xxx. Bad luck struck once again in the form of a mis shift from 2nd gear to 5th gear thanks to the stupid short shifter which I hated but could not remove due to non availability of a OE one. I was not all that disappointed when I found out that I had clocked 6th fastest in my category.
Now the car was due for a paint job as had plenty of scratches/dents and a complete suspension overhaul. Was waiting for the right moment to leave the car for approx 2 weeks time required for painting and also most importantly Vitamin M for both. My fortunes started changing and lady luck finally decided to help me out. Closed some very important & large business deals in the 1st week of April which would give me the much required funds to realize my dreams. Now it was only a matter of time to realize it. I thought over what I wanted to achieve and had 2 options make a show car that would be kitted and fast or a sleeper car. I chose the sleeper and started chalking out what all was required.
Here is a list of what I had planned not in order.
1> Complete repaint with change of colour.
2> Full Suspension overhaul with upgraded shocks & Springs
3> Complete Brake Upgrade to Wilwood/Brembo for fronts and Rear Disc conversion
4> Engine Swap with a engine capable of doing a qtr mile in approx 13.xxx secs in NA form.
5> Remove Body Kit, badging & reduce exhaust sound to make it as silent as possible without compromising on power.
6> Car to be a complete daily driver
7> Refurbished interiors.
With my mind very focused and clear about what I wanted I went ahead and identified the engine & mods to be done on it and placed the order for the same in the 1st week of April.(details to be disclosed later once installed). It would take a month or so to arrive and was looking forward to the same. A family holiday for 2 weeks was planned in the 3rd week of April and I realized my car would be lying idle for the duration so went ahead with the paint process first( not the ideal choice but best time utilization). Took delivery of my car on the 16th May and the first thing I did was change the Alloys. Next in line the car went to Ichiban Honda for the suspension overhaul and all components with the exception of Springs & Dampers were changed. Once the car was out from there in went the 4 pot Wilwoods. The car was finally turning out into what I had dreamed of.
The only thing pending is the engine which is due to arrive in the 1st week of June which will complete the entire transformation. This is my first post which is so long so please excuse the long read. Detailed pics of the transformation in progress will be uploaded in a few days. The chassis has been seam welded and strengthened already to accomodate the larger more powerful engine.
