1971 Oldsmobile Cutlass S

Cammer427's 1971 Oldsmobile Cutlass

Muscle & Hot Rod Enthusiasts

I have created a CarDomain Group where enthusiasts can share their love for hot rods, classic and muscle cars. Share photos, links, ask questions or create general chatter in the forum, find others interested in buying or selling classic autos or parts, and so on. It's a public group, anyone may join and most of all have fun!

I bought this '71 Oldsmobile Cutlass S from my uncle in August 2005. During ownership, my uncle pulled the original engine (a 350-ci) and put in a 1970 Oldsmobile 4-bbl 455-ci. The engine has an F-code block with E-code heads. My grandfather bought this for my uncle so he didn't need to ask for his keys anymore. Over the years he had put a lot of work and love into it, but priorities change and it has sadly spent the past 15 years or so sitting on his farm. By the time he decided it was in the car's best interest to give it to me (I payed next to nothing for it), it garnered enough dents, rust and general maltreatment to bring one to tears.

The engine is still in excellent condition. I removed it and as well as the transmission and was going to install the combination in my 1970 Chevelle, but ended up buying another car (seems to be a recurring problem with me) and I never finished the project. The body is in very rough condition needing both quarter panels, a single front fender, trunk floor, trunk lid, and so on replaced. It will take time and money, but there's no way I would ever let a car like this be parted out or crushed. Years down the road it will be restored but for now it'll have to wait.

I love these iconic American cars, it's why I do what I do for a living. I've an oil painting of an Olds just like yours at a junkyard, check it out at: www.motoringartist.com/GalleryNo2.html And come check out my lil' bit of US Automotive history (it's a Chevy) here in the UK. I gotta give you 5 stars your car is so cool !!
