I purchased this 1978 Diamond Jubilee Edition Mark V in nice original condition from the second owner in 1999. It has 108000 kms (approx. 65000 miles). These special editions were made to celebrate Ford's 75th anniversary. There were a total of 5159 produced. I don't know how many of that number were sold in Canada. The car was sold new to Host Rent-a-Car in Edmonton,Alberta,Canada believe it or not. I suspect it was for the owner of the company. It has been garaged all it's life and that's why the interior has held it's color so well. The interior in these cars are very prone to fading. The paint and body restoration was done to a high standard by Contemporary Coachworks in Calgary,Alberta. They normally specialize in high-end cars like Lexus, Porsche, Jaguar, and don't usually work on large American iron like this. They had this car from April to October 2003 to do the job right. The vinyl roof and decklid vinyl were masterfully redone by Degreeve Auto Upholstery in Calgary. The decklid vinyl is particularly hard to replace because it has to be done without removing the Continental letters. The picture of the right front kick panel shows the rare option of a dealer installed Ford in-car warmer. This is powered by 110 volt household current and the plug-in is accessed under the hood near the rad support. This car is completely loaded including a factory CB radio accessed in a hidden compartment in the center console. These cars had extensive interior leather trimming. The sides of the seat bases and backs, console and door armrest pads are all leather. Even the dash pad is padded leather. Everything works on this car including the A/C which has been retro-fitted to R-134. The engine is the great 460 cubic inch and 1978 was the last year that Ford used the 460 in passenger cars. These were rare and expensive cars. The Diamond Jubilee edition sold new in Canada for a whopping sticker price of approximately 28000 Canadian dollars in 1978. I worked at Universal Lincoln Mercury in Calgary at that time so this car has always been a dream machine for me. LINCOLNS RULE! 9/17/09 UPDATE: This car is now for sale. It has been professionally and fairly appraised at 13000 CDN Dollars. I'm asking 12,500 CDN but will consider offers. No Trades. This car must be sold due to changes in lifestyle and storage availability. I can either be reached by e-mail at linc178@telus.net or phone me at 403-852-9095.

I need to correct myself on the interior of your MK V. The cloth is in such fantastic shape and without any wrinkles that it appears to be leather. Simply a beautiful Diamond Jubilee and I think more impressive than the Jubilee Gold that was offered as an alternative.

The leather interior in your car is extremely rare even for a Diamond Jubilee Edition. Most were produced with the cloth interior and yours is the first one I've ever seen in leather. Great car! Does it have the metric odometer? Mine does as it was originally shipped to Burlington, Ontario when it was new. John Pratt L.C.O.C. member since 1997
