This is my 1988 Cimarron. Yea, I know it's structurally the same as a Cavalier, hence the nickname. So anyone who hates it for that reason only, don't bother wasting space on my guestbook. Okay, the car had 31,000 miles on it when I bought it in October 2002. It sat in a garage with a cover on it and was only driven about once a month. I've only had some minor problems along the way, which were mostly age related. Fuel pump went because the car went from being driven once a month by the previous owner to being driven fairly regularly by me. Also lost the alternator and had a couple rotted motor mounts(again, due to age) But all in all, I think the Cimarron is one of the best secrets in the used car market for the littlest $$$ if you can find one in good condition.

Here is a little history lesson on this now rare car:

1982: Cimarron is introduced to the masses, but with a horrifically shitty 1.8 liter carbeurated engine. The car was a joke, looking exactly like a Chevy Cavalier with Cadillac emblems. The '82 Cimarron was voted the eighth worst car of the millenium by CarTalk.(cartalk.com)

1983: The car got a little better, with the new 2.0 liter four cylinder and more distinctive styling. It actually looked a little like a Cadillac now.

1984: Ditto on 1983, except for new grille.

1985: Drastic changes to interior and exterior, plus the 2.8 liter V-6, which made the car about 150% better than it previously was.

1986: New front and rear end (again) and even better interior.

1987: V-6 becomes standard. Touring suspention and wheels are standard.

1988: The last and best year of the Cimarron. Just about everything that was optional on the '87 was made standard for '88. The car came completely loaded.
