TAILIGHT MOD

These are the taillights I'm actually putting on him. They are TA style. (top one)
I need a better pic!
The plan...to remove the grids. I got a set that has separated. They are trashed as far as the average 3rd gen owner is concerned. But for me they are perfect!
Here is a pic after I removed the grids on one that the grid and lens had separated.

It was trashed anyway, but I like it better w/o the grids. So no worries, I'm not destroying a perfectly good pair!
Now time to sand down the grid lines that remained on the plastic lens...

It took quite a bit to get those lines out. I went to 220 wet paper and sanded away & then stepped up bit by bit. 320...400...800...1500...2000. Then to the rubbing compound...polishing compound...scratch out...then to the 3M glazes...

the final product!
Now assembled...

Ok a bit dark...

I will paint the remaining black edge body color (pewter), including the center section. A bird emblem will be added to the blank spot left behind.
