Notch pics!
Ok this is the notch that will end up on the 82...I won it on Ebay!
******************************************************************************** UPDATE: 1-15-05: WELL THE NOTCH WAS TO BE DUPLICATED. BUT I GOT A LEMON! ITS WARPED FOLKS & BRUCE CAN'T FIX IT. HECK IT MIGHT KILL MY NOTCH PLANS! ********************************************************************************
Some people love notches, some hate them!
I personally like the factory looking notches...I know alot of people say they would want one if it looked like a factory notch. Well as far as I'm aware, no one makes anything close to a factory notch in the aftermarket world! I checked all over and no one knew who made this particular notch or if they were even still in business. The seller had no idea!
********************************************************************************
Here is a close up on the tabs that lock the lexan rear glass in place Here is a shot of the underside. Its finished very nice!
We tried it on a camaro Bruce had that was having the engine removed. We took out the back glass
A shot from inside the car!
Ok! People keep saying they like the factory Notches. Well this one we are trying to get made is so darn close...here are some pics of some factory Notches I got off thridgen so you can compare...
Thanks to the owners of these factory Notchback cars for the pics they posted!
The only differences I have found... 1: Mine does not have the ridge down the center of the deck as the factory style does. 2: Mine had hinge mounting points like the factory glass hatchback (2 pairs of nubs on the top surface where the hinges mount on the notch). Factory notches are smooth there. 3: Mine has a lexan window and weighs less then a factory one. 4: Mine is a bolt on replacement (your old hatchback struts, and hinges will work) 5: The side pillars on the deck may not go as far down the side of the notch as a factory. 6: The side pillars on the deck may be a 1/2 inch taller then the factory notch, but they still tightly follow the sail panels bodyline, unlike other aftermarket options.
Ok now here is what you other options are for aftermarket... *************************************** MOTION *************************************** GT AUTO *************************************** TOJAN kit... *************************************** Something like the trojan ***************************************
The GTAuto, the Tojan, and that red Trojan-like one look alot alike to me. I have some other GTAuto pics and they have the same 2 recessed places in the deck like that red one...Pics are too big to load here though!
