This car is actually a Special Deluxe Sport Sedan. It was complete when I bought it, so naturally I drove it home and started changing it a bit. I installed PS/PB, airbags, dropped spindles, redid the steering column and traded out the blackwalls and painted rims for the wide whites and chromed wheels. I smoothed and painted the running boards. I also repainted the front and rear fenders, hood and trunk lid then laid out some flames and ghosted them in. I also made the air cleaner, top radiator shroud, hood latch striker plate and fan shroud and installed a higher gear in the rear end. Underhood wiring was re-routed under the fenders and the stereo was upgraded. A 350/350 12 bolt posi was used for the drive train. The car is an Americruise veteran - California to Lincoln, Nebraska and back-a nearly 4900 mile (a few side jaunts), trouble free trip.
It was a great ride, but I wanted to build a convertible and ending up finding a new home for the '40 and picking up a '64 Malibu SS drop-top. Check it out as well if y9u get the chance.
