By far the most challenging part of the build was the modifications made to the trunk lid. It was cut at the molding line and the bottom section was welded back into the trunk opening. The shortened deck lid and the bottom section were boxed with 16 ga. steel and a mid-sixties VW trunk latch was installed opening by either manual cable or electric solenoid. Patch panels were formed to cover the original taillight and back-up light openings.
