This car is called La Bala and it is an original, designed and built from SCRATCH. I designed the frame and built it from a pile of steel tubes. Then I designed and built an inboard coilover pullrod suspension and adapted the Toyota struts into unequal length race-style a-arm suspension. I designed and built everything else about the car by hand except the Toyota running gear. The bodywork was designed from scratch by me and I built all of it by hand including making the fiberglass molds. I recently swapped from a turbo engine to a lighter Toyota 20valve Blacktop making 180hp. To top it off, I built almost the entire project in 1/2 of a 2 car garage!
This is a 5 year plus project - and I have a website with over 2,000 photos explaining how I built the car from scratch, to taking it out to the track and how I am making it STREET LEGAL!
I recently began a new part of this project to add a 3-piece removable targa top and doors. Here is a video showing early progress of the hard top design. This is just a cardboard shape study which will be converted into a fiberglass plug from which production molds will be made so that I can make as many as I want.
Listen to the song of my new engine! It's a JDM 20v Blacktop from a Toyota Levin. They did not import these cars to the USA.

This is obviously not a 2008 MR2 Spyder! There is no category for my car on cardomain.com. Since I built the car using parts from an MR2... and right now is the time the 08 models are released... I decided to go with 2008 Toyota MR2 Spyder! But it's really a 2008 Grabercars 'La Bala'. Bala means 'Bullet' in spanish, and with a turbocharged 1.6L Toyota 4AGE engine putting out near 170hp and the weight at around 1,500 pounds, this little car really flies! The top of the windshield is under 40 inches tall.
Please continue on to my other pages to see how I designed the chassis and bodywork, how I built the chassis, how I built the bodywork and how I put everything together. I'll be adding more pages in the future as I take the car to more tracks and build more.
I've just started this page, so give me time to add more text and photos. meaning COME BACK often! And please vote for my ride!
