I built my car to be a well rounded, balanced car focusing mostly on road course driving. I originally was going to stay NA and bought every major part aside from rebuilding the engine, but I wanted more power and mainly in the top of the rpm range. I went with the supercharger instead of a turbo because I already had a huge amount of NA mods and many of them would have to come off for a turbo but yet they'd compliment the vortech centrifugal supercharger.
Another reason was I haven't seen many fatally damaged stock engines at the time. Though my car was still drivable, I did recenly bend a rod ever so slightly and that probably has something to do with me pushing the engine as far as I have. It lasted 2 years and 12k miles though... I'm looking into a 3.8 liter GTM stroker kit when I get some money together
I've been happy with how the car drives and feels. I know it's not the fastest thing out there nor does it have the most power, but I've tweaked just about everything on it. It has lots of grip, reactive power, and it revs fast with the shorter gearing and lightweight drivetrain/wheels etc. With the tires and suspension work I'm running, I pretty much have full traction in 2nd gear and onward on most 75+ degree days. Some people have said my car drives similar to an F430 or GT3
The combo of the 3.9 final drive and vortech makes the rpms 10.7% higher compared to stock and increase the gear torquethe same amount. It also revs through the rpms faster getting you into the meat of where the vortech kit shines the most. I'm happy with it, but obviously won't have the higher midrange peak torque output that a turbo will have
I'm obviously not really going for bling or being a show car. If I get a huge scrape or rock chip on my bumper, then so be it :) I like the stock body shape of the Z just fine and rather than going with a full body kit, I just wanted to accent a couple things
At idle, you can hear it isn't anything near stock because of the supercharger, exhaust work, and it idles at around 1250 rpms (stock is about 650). At WOT, IMO it isn't too loud or obnoxious, but definitely a lot more aggressive than stock.
