bel63air's 1963 Chevrolet Bel Air

this is my 1963 chevy Bel-Air with a 230ci straight 6cyl. i am in the process of restoring it and i am probably going to keep the straight 6 in it... the car is mint. it has never had any body work done to it. it only has a few small rot spots and some surface rust. i am really going to start working alot on it this summer(2007).... future parts to put into the engine are clifford or offy 4bbl intake, headers, holley or edelbrock 4bbl carb, maybe rebuild the head or try to find a nice aluminum one, the pertronix ignitor 2 ignition system, pertronix rev limiter, braided steel lines, billet specialities rims, maybe all wheel disc brakes, polished powermaster alternator , nice tall K+N air cleaner, 4'' cowl induction hood, and maybe dual exhaust with somewhere around 2.5-3inch pipes and cherry bomb extreme mufflers(they sound soo good...their will be alot more pictures coming soon so check back in a few weeks

I am going to sand it down soon and put it in some primer and paint it hopefully by next summer

what i have put into the cars engine soo far is...pertronix flame-thrower coil, chrome coil bracket, yellow accel 8mm wires, AC delco plugs, chrome chevy valve cover, new oil filter, blue-streak points and condensor, standard distributer cap, blue streak rotor and i think their are a few others i forgot. it does not look too good in the picture but it will look alot better soon with the steel braided lines and hoses and painted pullies which i am in the process of doing now

Nice project, kinda takes me back about 10 yrs or so when I bought my '63 BelAir.The 6 cylinder is a lot of fun, with the right mods & a lot of cash the 6 will perform very well. One suggestion,if it's still got the powerglide trans you will benefit performance wise by installing a Turbo 350, you have better gear ratios and you also gain an xtra gear change. My powerglide is coming out and a turbo 350 will take it's place.I bought 14" Summit Racing brand glasspacks and with my Clifford Performance headers, they sound real cool, loud enough to set off car alarms !!Good luck with you car, please keep us updated with your progress and if you get a chance check out my ride.

GOOD CHOICE! Bel airs during the 60's were the drag racers choice chevy, it was the lightest one available with a v8 and heavy duty suspension, and to top it off one of the cheapest as well, which explains why their hard to find, most people dropped the few hundred more it took to get a impala, so the model name was dropped mid 60's....JC whitney should have the lowest price on the intake for your I-6, different gearing and a nice exhaust and youll have a torquey daily driver/classic.. would like to see more pics though, and i hope your not offended when i say the background sorta makes your page difficult to read, but hey, nice car and keep me updated on any work you do!
