This is my 78 Chevy El Camino Super Sport.
I got it on Ebay from Pennsylvania. It was completely stock except for the full dual exhaust. It is a custom stainless steel, straight pipes except for a Flowmaster mufflers at the end.
It has a 305 v8. Stock 2bbl Rochester. The only specs I could find for it online said it puts out around 160hp stock.
All of the work that has been done and will be done as long as i own this car is done by me. I am a 21yo automotive technician at a Jeep/Chrysler/Dodge dealership.

I got into a fender bender a week and a half after i got it on the road, and it sat in my driveway for about four months (april-august). Mostly because it took over a month to get my new fender, header and hood from southern cali to boston. During the time i also did some engine work.

engine upgrades include:
cleaned and new paint (GM Blue)
edelbrock performer intake
edelbrock performer 600cfm 4bbl carb
edelbrock 14x3" round chrome air cleaner
edelbrock signature series valve covers
new belts and hoses
new spark plugs, distributor, and msd ignition coil and wires
edelbrock breathers on valve covers

Sucks about the accident but great job! Despite my name, I've always been partial to El Caminos and yours is very clean! Nice and 5 stars for you!

Nice El Camino, 5 stars on what you've done so far. Shame about the accident but at least you can fix it! I love the picture of the guard dog and hood, great stuff! Thanks for the comments on my ride.In answer to you questions, no it wasn't that hard to line up the body panels. The Camino was built in Mexico and the Cutlass here in Canada, but the bolt holes were pretty much the same car to car and I didn't have to drill any holes. The windshields are interchangable and I swapped them too. I did have to space the front bumper out about 3 inches. The bolt holes are the same, just the El Camino is shorter in the front. It looks OK in the pictures, I left the final fit to the bodyman, even gave him a bunch of shims. What took a lot of time was having the interiors of two cars stripped to the metal. I didn't want to just do the sheetmetal, I wanted a Cutlass pickup in and out! As for your idea of a 3rd gen Camaro, I think this would be a lot harder because you'd have to worry about the inner structure as well as the hood, fenders, etc. I have seen this done before though. A company out of California named "lauren engineering" (www.laurenengineering.com I think, try googling it) sells a kit they call the "El Camaro" that resembles a 84 or 85 Camaro front clip. I'm not sure if it's just a nose and you use your fenders and hood or what. Check them out, they specialize in G bodys only. I hope this has been helpful, please let me know if you have any other questions.
