Swap Progress Page:

I've been plugging away at the car bit by bit for the past few months & figured I ought to post the progress. It's been moving slowly as of late since I'm running low on funds. Please donate $ to the "VQswap fund" at .... kidding

Engine fitment-
Anyways, the engine is fitting in very nicely & I have fabricated the mounts. The stock intake manifold does fit, but I've welded a new elbow on that swings to the passenger side where I have more room to work with, & it will allow me to put on a larger throttle-body that isn't choked by the stock 70mm neck. I was hoping to use aftermarket Exhaust manifolds, but they don't clear the frame rail or my R&P steering linkage, so I will be modifying stock manifolds for now, then later on when I have more $ I'll make a custom set of tubular exhaust manifolds.

Drivetrain-
Clearancing the transmission tunnel required a fair amount of cutting & bending since the 6spd is a monster on the back end. I have put together the 3.7 ratio R200 differential from a Z31 to handle the power that I put a helical LSD & new bearings.

I have also modified my rear LCA's so I can hopefully fit some 225 tires under the stock fenders, cross your fingers with me.

Here's a pic of my final engine mounts. My first powder coating attempt & it turned out good!

Sorry to have neglected you guys for awhile. The exhaust is getting put on tomorrow so I'm getting really excited to hopefully start driving it this week. Here's the final engine bay pic & the plumbed fuel system. Oh, & the 225 tires fit after a couple more tweaks.

The car is running & I will post up some video when I have the chance to get some taken.  This car is an animal, no stomping on the go pedal while mid-turn allowed.

Hey I saw that video of your car on youtube the other day. That thing is out of control. Nice choice going with the VQ, and very original!

i like what youve done with your PL510, the 3 spoke wheels sure make it look unique thats for sure and the VQ should be a blast and must sound wicked from the 510. if i choose to keep my car and continue to fund it i plan to possibly squeeze in a WarHawk LS7X(427 raped to 454 by World Products)...of course id just build a race chassis with integrated rollcage an just drop the body over an bolt it up. anyways good luck with the 510 and keep up the good work.
