My engine modifications are on hold now as I'm back in college. Some vital engine maintenance used up all of the money I had set aside for the job I had planned.
I get my car serviced in JOMO engineering. For anybody not from Ireland Jomo Engineering was set up by an Irish guy who worked for Cosworth & Jedi Racing in the UK. At Cosworth he was responsible for the RS4 engine, cylinder head work on the Aston Martin Vanquish S V12, spares for the YB Ford Cosworth engine, & included in that was validation work for 2 different rally programmes.
The car got a thorough service / maintenance to make sure everything is in order at the start of the summer for stage 1 of my project Almera but unfortunately a number of issues were raised whiched turned out to be pretty expensive.
I had to get the timing chain changed and the throttle cable too (which was close to shearing, oops!). Chassis is in good order but I had to get the big end bearing replaced recently. It'd be the perfect time to complete the work I was hoping to do but I have no money left to do it!
My plan was to do a Port and Polish, install a cold air induction kit, get a custom exhaust manifold made up by JOMO and install a cat back exhaust system. After many months of searching the web I found the right components. I had chosen a HKS stainless steel exhaust system (pictures below) and depending on what she sounded like with the exhaust and manifold I was going to opt for either an AEM Cold Air intake or a K&N induction kit.
I'm reliably informed that the work would provide me with an estimated gain of approx 30 bhp in total. With the rev range in the QG18DE I'm quite confident that it would sound incredible but only time will tell! I've just gotten myself another job to save up some cash so we'll see how I get on!
