Kaoss Audio & Video
Kenner, LA

kaoss_audio's 2007 Jeep PatriotAudio & Video Concepts, DBA Kaoss Audio & Video, opened its doors on Labor Day 2003. It was started by Nahel Rimawi, Thaer Rimawi, & Hammy Halum. Kaoss has a small, but powerful work force consisting of employees; Vinnie Nguyen as Service Manager, Donnie La as Assistant Service Manager, and Robert Nguyen our tint specialist. Its a single store front with custom-built displays to accommodate the showroom space. We specialize in car & marine audio, video, navigation systems, alarms, OEM integration, window tinting, and just about anything related to 12volt.

kaoss_audio's 2007 Jeep PatriotWhen considering the 2007 Jeep Patriot as our vehicle for Pioneers Sound Build-Off competition we focused on an original, challenging, and sound-friendly vehicle. We wanted to keep the integrity of the vehicle, but make it stand out at the same time. The vehicle was built primarily by Vinnie Nguyen and Donny La with the help of Nick Del Bianco as an apprentice.

kaoss_audio's 2007 Jeep PatriotThe very first thing we did was strip the entire Jeep and installed sound dampening materials. The work was broken up into two parts, Donny focused on building the doors and tweeter pods and Vinnie building the rear cargo space. We did not use any rear fill for imaging purposes, only allowing front staging for the best sound reproduction. The doors were broken down and re-built with a set of TS-C720PRS and TS-C520PRS drivers. Donny molded the doors and painted them to match the factory door panel. He had to do this four times until he was satisfied with the placement and angle of the speakers.

A single pair of TS tweeters were molded and carefully angled into the A-Pillars and also repainted to match the factory color. The rear cargo area was especially challenging due to the odd-shaped rear panels. The passenger side quarter panel had to be cut and remolded to assume a symmetrical look. All three amps and both subs were installed under double-layered color plexi glass to visibly enhance the product. A two tone color paint scheme was chosen to give the illusion of depth and contrast. After all the product was installed, came the real challenge. Roughly 25-30 hours was spent tuning
the system. Actually, we tuned the system over and over again up until the time of judging by the IASCA judges.

kaoss_audio's 2007 Jeep PatriotWe are honored to be selected as the winner of the 2007 Pioneer Build-Off. We were up against the best Pioneer Premier dealers in the country. All the vehicles there showed how much skill, knowledge, and hard-work was put into these amazing vehicles. It was great meeting everyone and sharing ideas and knowledge of this industry. Hopefully we are chosen to do this again next year and look forward to seeing what the next group of top Pioneer Premier dealers have in store.
