This is my 2nd B3 Passat. My 1st one is a red 91' GL. This one is a 93' GLS VR6 leather/moonroof with 197K km. I just bought it for commute when my Alfa Romeo Milano is in the bodyshop for restoration. This Passat has rust mainly along the trunk lid, a dead speedometre and factory radio with the infamous "safe" message (the car doesn't come with a radio code) Otherwise everything is fine: smooth VR6 and tranny, not one oil drop. For the next-to-nothing money I paid for this low mileage car, I really should have no complaints. The B3 to me is always a best value for performance, style, and practicality. I never loose money on it as their resale value has hit the lowest for years.
