Greetings ! !
Welcome to the world of our People Mover! Like Stitch, this ride has been named after a popular Disney Icon. Only this Icon was actually a ride at the Happiest Place on Earth!
No longer in Anehiem, the people mover lives on as this fine example of Mazda Engineering designed to move our family around with style and comfort. Its fun too with plenty of that good ole Mazda Zoom Zoom! Any how, My Husband has worked hard to put together this page for all of you to enjoy. So have fun and Cheers!
Dedicated to Family Haulers, I welcome you in to Our Mazda 5 page. We've all seen them, the majority of us ridden in them (dare I saw we all have?) and most of us will end up buying one because somewhere, someone decided that Family Life is exceedingly COOL and the little two door coupe, or heavily modified Muscle car either had to go, or become relagated to being #2!
You know, the Work car...
Not to worry friends and nieghbors!
The family hauler has a long history of being both practical and a bit of fun. Remember the Vista Cruiser? Or How about the old Woody??? Anywho, I present for your inspection, the modern version of the pragmatic beach goin' grocery getter.
Believe it or not, this is actually my wifes first real Family Hauler in the very sense of the word. Previously, growing up, her family had any number of coupes, convertibles, hatchback sport tourers and pickups. The generation of Suburban Schooner travel passed her by.
When we got married, I was driving a 79 Celica Supra, much like the one below. (This one is not mine, however, it is the same year and color as the one I owned.)
My wife on the other hand, owned a 83 Honda Accord Hatch. After we were married, the Honda was totaled in a rear ender, and my tranny started giving out (sure wish I had pictures of all this!) So we went to Saturn and drove out with a 99 Cranberry SL. It would be totaled in another rear ender in 02' which is where the purchase of the Blue SL1 Stitch came in.
Anyhow, On to this wonderful cruiser. My wife did all of the initial research concerning our purchase. I had been looking at the requisite Minivan, and had aquired a number of brochures, pamhlets, and car magazines. I even had begun road testing some of these suburban road warriors.
Why was all of this happening?
Well we had survived my Son's first 6 years in the Saturn, but with the comming arrival of my Daughter, we had purchased the needed carseats, and found that they had grown in size. So we found out in short order that we were out growing the sedan very rapidly.
Any How, we fell in love with this little Micro-Mini Van. There is not a day go by that my lovely wife does not proclaim her passion for the Mazda. Originally, years ago, she had found desire for the venerable Miata. I told her recently that she finally got her Mazda. As far as th Mazda5 goes, I don't have any plans to modify the car just yet. So far the Mazda ZOOM is sufficient, and the interior fits our needs beautifully. Our priorities are centered around the kids, and their space in the car. The larger quarters in the Mazda provide much more comfort for them, making long distance travel more fun for all of us! Obviously the Stereo isn't the Bangin' Epicenter Thumper Glass shattering Concert Venue found here at CarDomain.Com.
But that’s Ok with us. My little girl hasn't even started listening to Raffi yet...
Still
in all, even though this is our Family Hauler, The pull for a trip to the beach to run in the surf and play on the Boardwalk is strong. Not in recent memory has there been such a car, Save for the PT Cruiser that has this kind of feeling to it. It’s rather intangible. I don't get that feeling with the larger Minivan. But it is that kind of windows down, Beach Boys salty air feeling. The kind you get from riding in a Chevy wagon in the 70's.
Anyhow, we plan to keep it stock and as clean as possible for the family bus. Maybe I'll bling it up some when it becomes my personal ride in the future.
I love the double sliding doors. It’s easy for my Son to operate, and no more dinged doors from his enthusiastic door openings.....
