70856's 1986 Jaguar XJ Sedan

well here it is my jag.

this is my jaguar XJ6 vanden plas. it has a 4.2 liter engine. the car is currently in need of restoring.

back in 2000 my neighbor died on a canoe accident and this cat happened to belong to him.. well 2 years later his wife asked if i wanted the car. and i said sure. it took 10 cans of ether for this cat to start purring. it was old gas. then the mold was next. i tackled that and so forth. so this thursday i replaced the fuel filter. these pics were taken on wednesday.

now i'm not rich, and if i were the car would be pimped out, but its not. so i went to napa in wurborn and got a new fuel filter.

while doing some research on the car i found out the there was some upgrades and stuff like that.. the headlights were 5inches but the PO changed it to 7inches... i'll keep you posted on more about the car. the car currently has 93,785 miles on it!

if you guys think this car is a piece of shit, then get the hell outa here. i'm trying to restore it, okay. its a project ok. so this is a car that i can work on.. i'm putting in a pioneer cd player (the radio still works) and xm radio if i can.

after the fuel filter i thought about the little stuff.

the rims are dayton wire rims, they sit on 4.75 on 5 stud. i ain't replacing them. but they might need some restoration though... in the interior the dash is peeling. so i thought about the dash spray paint... the guy that owned the car was tryin to rig his cell phone recharger in it, so the wiring needs some tending too.

hey if you guys have any suggestions tell me about it.. mostly on where to find parts, the car has been in the yard for about 2 years thats why it looks a little trashy, but the inside is clean...

Keep going with the car. Be careful with the daytons..i had them on my 84 when i bought it but later found that the inside of each wheel was very very very rusty and they needed replacement(you couldnt notice from the outside, they just had a little surface rust in areas). For parts go with Welsh enterprises...they're out of ohio and can get you amazing deals on NOS and new parts(the only place i feel comfortable buying from). Installing the parts is expensive if you cant do it by yourself. Keep up the good work!
